Binder Jetting technology is a high-speed, efficient 3D printing process. Its working principle is quite simple: a layer of extremely fine powder is spread on a powder bed, and then a liquid binder is selectively sprayed onto the powder layer through a nozzle, binding the powder particles in specific areas together. This process is repeated layer by layer, ultimately forming a three-dimensional “green part”.
In this seemingly simple process, the nozzle is the core component and actuator of the entire device, directly determining the printing accuracy, speed, reliability, and the quality of the final parts. To ensure the ink quality of the printer nozzle, regular cleaning is required to prevent the nozzles from clogging. However, during factory holidays or when there are no production tasks, prolonged idle time can lead to nozzle clogging.
To address this, we have developed the Holiday Mode — which allows for setting time intervals for the printer to automatically clean and maintain the nozzle, achieving an unattended function during holidays.
Precautions Before Activation
When activating Holiday Mode, the printer must meet the following main conditions:
● Sufficient liquid materials: Check the liquid material levels before activating Holiday Mode, ensuring that the resin and cleaning liquid are full and that waste liquid is drained.
● Normal gas supply: Must not be below 4.5 bar.
● The working chamber is in the working position, the roller shutter door is closed, the safety door is closed, and the safety lock is locked.
Activation Method
Set the cleaning interval time, defaulting to 1 hour. Click the [Start] button for Holiday Mode on the print head interface to activate Holiday Mode. A confirmation window will pop up asking “Do you want to activate Holiday Mode?” Click the [Confirm] button to start Holiday Mode.
Once Holiday Mode is activated, all action buttons of the printing system will be locked, and the system will perform the nozzle cleaning tasks based on the set interval time.
For customers, the automatic cleaning function of the nozzle in Holiday Mode is a key aspect of ensuring the stability of equipment operation and the continuity of the production process. Its core value can empower customers’ production practices through three main dimensions:
● Ensuring nozzle stability and success rate of printing: Holiday Mode, through a preset periodic automatic cleaning program, effectively ensures the smoothness of the nozzle, avoiding the issue of “rework upon startup” from the source, significantly reducing material waste and labor costs, and ensuring the forming rate of printing tasks.
● Optimizing operational costs of core components and extending equipment lifespan: Holiday Mode can reduce the wear of the nozzle from binder residue, delaying the aging process of components, thus achieving precise control of equipment operational costs and improving the return on investment of fixed assets.
● Ensuring continuity of the production process: Holiday Mode ensures that the printer nozzle maintains consistent ejection parameters and working conditions after the holiday, eliminating the need for additional parameter calibration and debugging, helping the production line quickly resume full-load operation, effectively ensuring product delivery cycles.
