1. What is a Smart Production Line Management System?
The survival and development of enterprises depend on production. Therefore, how to efficiently manage the production line intelligently is a crucial issue for managers. A smart production line management system can consist of RFID cards, wireless terminal devices (using ZigBee modules), ZigBee serial servers (ZBCOM-300IE), LED displays, and PCs, allowing management to grasp the operational status of the production line in real-time.

RFID technology, also known as Radio Frequency Identification, is a communication technology that identifies specific targets and reads and writes related data through radio signals without needing mechanical or optical contact between the identification system and the target. Compared to the barcode technology widely used in traditional discrete manufacturing industries, RFID technology can read and write wirelessly over long distances, store large amounts of data while moving at high speeds, and penetrate through various materials, making it usable in harsh environments.
2. Working Principle
The system first binds RFID cards to semi-finished products in the workshop and the identification codes of the workers. After completing each process, workers read the information on the card. The data collected is transmitted to the ZBCOM-300IE device via ZigBee networked wireless terminal devices, and then the data is sent to the backend through the serial port of the ZBCOM-300IE. The backend then transmits the collected information to the LED display, allowing for the assessment of the completion status of the products and the operation status of each workstation. The system flowchart is shown below.

Advantages: It can eliminate the complexity of wiring in the factory and the hassle of maintenance, saving material costs; it allows real-time statistics of workers’ output, efficiency, piecework wages, goods tracking, quality monitoring, and delivery control, easily achieving visual production and smart management, thereby improving product quality and production efficiency.

3. Solution Reveal
Using ZigBee wireless modules equipped with the FastZigBee networking protocol, it has been successfully applied to the establishment and transformation of production line management systems, achieving smart management of production line systems efficiently. The smart production line management system is shown below:
