Hello everyone, I am Lao Chen. Recently, I came across some remarks by communication expert Xiang Ligang that really resonated with me. The Americans impose chip embargoes on us while trying to dump outdated chips on us. Isn’t it obvious they think we’re easy targets?

01 The Double Standards of the U.S.
Speaking of this, Lao Chen gets angry. Expert Xiang Ligang pointed out the Americans’ little tricks: They won’t sell you advanced chips but want to shove outdated ones down your throat. Back in the day, they blocked us from various technologies, refusing to sell EUV lithography machines and high-end chips, forcing us to become self-reliant.
And what’s the result? Our chip technology has made tremendous progress. The 28nm process is already in mass production, and 14nm is on the way. The Americans realized something was wrong and started to panic, wanting to sell us their old stock to recover losses.

02 The Chinese Are Not Easily Deceived
Xiang Ligang’s words are particularly insightful: “We’re not foolish. When you wouldn’t sell to us, we built our own. Now that you want to sell, why should we buy?” This is the spirit of the Chinese!
Think about it, when Huawei was sanctioned, how many orders did American chip manufacturers lose? Companies like Qualcomm and Intel saw their stock prices drop significantly. Now they want to reopen the Chinese market, but we are no longer the China that can only passively take hits.

Huawei’s Kirin chips are back, and SMIC’s production capacity is expanding rapidly. From nothing to something, from weak to strong, we only took a few years. This speed has left the Americans dumbfounded.
03 Self-Reliance is the Hard Truth
Expert Xiang Ligang also mentioned a key issue: Relying on others is never as good as relying on oneself. Back in the communication field, we followed from 2G, broke through with 3G, ran alongside with 4G, and led with 5G. Every step we took was solid and firm.

Now the chip industry follows the same path. The more the U.S. blocks us, the more we need to assert ourselves. From design to manufacturing, from materials to equipment, the entire industry chain must be in our own hands so that we won’t be choked by others.
04 The Market Choice is in Our Hands
What makes Lao Chen feel most relieved is that now it’s our turn to call the shots. China is the world’s largest chip consumer market, accounting for over 60% of global demand. Without the Chinese market, can American chip companies have it easy?

Xiang Ligang is right: “Now it’s a buyer’s market, not a seller’s market”. You want to sell, but we might not even want to buy. We have our own chips and our own technology roadmap, why should we care about your whims?
Moreover, to be honest, those outdated American chips have mediocre performance and are not cheap. Our own chips offer better cost-performance ratios, so why not use our own?

Today you may ignore us, but tomorrow we will make you regret it! This saying fits perfectly with the American chip situation. They were once high and mighty, but now it’s our turn to hold our heads high.
Expert Xiang Ligang’s remarks express the sentiments of all Chinese people. We do not hold grudges, but we will never forget those days of being choked. Now we have confidence and the power of choice, and that feeling is truly exhilarating!
Lao Chen believes that with our continuous technological progress, there will be more moments of pride in the future. The wisdom and resilience of the Chinese will never disappoint the world!
