Walking Ideological and Political Course: IoT College Organizes ‘Visit to Cybersecurity Exhibition, Forge Skills for National Service’ Practical Activity

On June 20, 2025, the IoT College organized a group of 29 students who will participate in the network operation and maintenance of the venues for the 2025 Chengdu World Games to visit the China Cybersecurity Science and Technology Museum for a specialized study activity. This study activity focused on the theme of “Focusing on National Security, Building a Cybersecurity Community”, deepening the operational team’s understanding of cybersecurity technology, and reinforcing the mission of “Technological Security for National Responsibility”.

During the visit, under the guidance of the museum’s staff, the students toured four major themed exhibition areas: personal cybersecurity, government and enterprise cybersecurity, social cybersecurity, and comprehensive competition. The exhibition areas vividly demonstrated the core principles of network attacks and defenses, data security protection strategies, and the evolution of cryptographic technology through innovative forms such as virtual reality, simulated attack and defense demonstrations, and multimedia interactions. Additionally, through the restoration of several real cybersecurity incident cases, such as data breaches and telecom fraud, students gained a profound understanding that cybersecurity is not only about protecting personal privacy but is also a crucial cornerstone for national security and social stability.

In the interactive experience segment, students actively participated in simulated network attack and defense scenarios, personally experiencing the concealment and harm of cybersecurity threats, and gaining a more intuitive understanding of the importance and urgency of cybersecurity protection. In the “Strong Network Original Intention • Red Memory” exhibition area, the precious historical photos, artifacts, revolutionary-themed artworks, and red internet stories allowed students to relive the historical moments when revolutionary martyrs accomplished arduous tasks on the hidden front, further solidifying their original intention to build professional skills for constructing a strong cyber nation.

After the visit, students expressed that: in the current wave of digitalization sweeping global events, mastering solid new network technology skills is not only a reflection of personal professional quality but also a key line of defense for maintaining national event security. The World Games, as a global sports event, carries the dreams and honors of athletes from various countries, and the technical protection system of the new national security network significantly impacts the fairness of the event and the image of the country. They strive to transform the knowledge they have learned into practical abilities, continuously improving in areas such as building cybersecurity technology architecture, data encryption transmission, and protecting critical information infrastructure, to construct a robust technical barrier for event cybersecurity and provide solid technical support for the smooth hosting of national events.

This study activity serves as a “walking ideological and political course” with the Cybersecurity Science and Technology Museum as a “three-dimensional textbook.” In the future, the IoT College will further deepen cooperation with the Cybersecurity Science and Technology Museum, leveraging technology empowerment, school-museum collaboration, and the integration of knowledge and action, to fully utilize the resources of the museum, continuously innovate the forms of ideological and political education, and contribute to cultivating a new generation capable of shouldering the great task of national rejuvenation.

In July this year, our college’s “World Games” student operation and maintenance team will go to Chengdu to participate in the comprehensive maintenance project of network information for the World Games venues. This is the third time the IoT College has formed a basic engineering team to participate in the cybersecurity guarantee work for national-level large-scale events, following the 31st Summer Universiade in 2023 and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. While strengthening their skills, students have also deeply rooted their professional ideals and patriotic feelings, gaining significant benefits.
