Upgraded Version of R2S? – NanoPi R2C Plus

I previously bought a NanoPi R2S. As for what this thing does, those who know probably understand that it is likely used as a soft router. In fact, it can run both OpenWRT and Ubuntu operating systems, but most people still use it as a soft router, for tasks like proxying and ad-blocking.

I bought it as well, and it was fresh for the first two days. After installing the necessary software and configuring it, unless it crashes, it will just sit in the corner collecting dust. The newly released NanoPi R2C Plus is a minor revision of the R2S, so let’s take a look at what improvements it has.

First, let’s take a look at the configuration:

  • CPU: Rockchip RK3328, Quad-coreCortex-A53

  • Memory: 1GB (optional 2GB)

  • Flash: 8GB eMMC 5.1 flash

  • Network:

    • Internal Gigabit Ethernet x 1

    • USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet x 1

    • Optional Wi-Fi

  • USB: USB 2.0 Type A x 1

  • MicroSD card slot x 1

  • MicroUSB: Power input and USB

  • Debug serial port: 3.3V TTL, 3 pins 2.54mm spacing, 1500000 baud rate

  • LED: LED x 3

  • 8-pin GPIO interface: 1 x I2C, 1 x UART/2 x GPIO

  • Size: 57.5 x 54.3mm

  • Power: 5V/2A DC

  • Operating System: U-boot,Ubuntu 20.04, OpenWrt,DietPi

  • Basically similar to R2S, but improved the Gigabit network port obtained through USB 3.0. Now its speed is consistent with the other network port, eliminating the complaints from before.
