Unboxing the Flagship RK3588 Development Board from Rockchip

Recently, Rockchip released the RK3588/RK3588S development platform, providing complete development documentation, firmware, and tools for high-end tablets, ARM PCs, smart displays, intelligent cockpits, edge computing, IPC, NVR, virtual/enhanced reality, and more, covering various industries in AIoT. Regarding the functionalities and operation guides of the RK3588/RK3588S development boards, Rockchip’s development engineer Damon addressed all questions in the unboxing video.

This time, the two major products launched are the RK3588 EVB and RK3588S EVB. The RK3588 EVB is primarily aimed at AIoT industry applications such as ARM PCs, NVRs, servers, IPCs, and large display devices; the RK3588S EVB targets consumer electronics like high-end tablets, AR/VR, and personal mobile internet devices.

1. RK3588 EVB: High Performance with Multiple Interfaces

The RK3588 EVB uses the RK3588 chip and the RK806-2 dual PMIC power supply scheme; it features LPDDR4X and eMMC storage; it has 2xHDMI TX, 1xHDMI RX, MIPI TX, VGA, SATA, PCIe30x4, TYPEC, 2xRJ45, and other peripheral interfaces, with dimensions of 18cmX18cm.

The RK3588 EVB is equipped with a rich array of peripheral interfaces (as shown), suitable for various industry AIoT terminal devices.

2. RK3588S EVB: Thinner and Lighter for Consumer Use

The RK3588S EVB uses the RK3588S chip, with performance essentially the same as the RK3588. Designed for consumer application performance needs and product structure design requirements, the RK3588S EVB has optimized interfaces and board dimensions, measuring 20cmX14cm, suitable for high-end tablets, AR/VR, and personal mobile internet devices.

The RK3588S is also equipped with the RK806-2 dual PMIC power supply scheme; it features LPDDR4X, eMMC, SD3.0 storage; and has eDP TX, MIPI D/C PHY TX, MIPI D/C PHY RX, MIPI DPHY RX, PCIe20, TYPEC, audio output, and array MIC input peripheral interfaces.
