The M2 Browning .50 caliber (approximately 1.27 cm) heavy machine gun is currently playing a role on the battlefield in Ukraine, with reports indicating that Ukrainian AI (Artificial Intelligence) combat robots have been equipped with this weapon.

The M2 Browning heavy machine gun began to be used by the U.S. military on the eve of World War II. After a series of upgrades, it is still in use by the U.S. military and other countries’ armed forces today.
According to reports, the Ukrainian army is using AI robots equipped with M2s to attack Russian positions, installing machine guns, grenade launchers, and bombs onto the robots, aiming to leverage science and technology to reduce the risks of human combat. Currently, Ukrainian defense companies prefer to use the M2 heavy machine gun as the weapon for the robots.
