Recently, screen manufacturer Tianma launched the world’s first LCD in-screen multi-touch fingerprint solution (TED Finger Print, abbreviated as TFP). It features high integration, full-screen multi-touch fingerprint recognition, and a high screen-to-body ratio.
It achieves the first integration of touch, display, and fingerprint recognition in one. Simultaneously, it covers the entire display with optical paths and sensors, equipped with a glass substrate-based sensor whose size is not limited, enabling “full-screen multi-touch” fingerprint recognition across the entire screen.
High integration reduces the thickness of the display by over 50%, making terminal product designs thinner and lighter. Full-screen multi-touch recognition supports fingerprint recognition across any display area.
This technology is currently ready for mass production and is being sent to terminal manufacturers for samples. Which phone manufacturer do you think will first adopt this technology?
Previously, TCL Huaxing also announced the development of an LCD under-display fingerprint solution, but it is currently only at the single-point stage, not yet at the multi-point stage.
However, flagship models generally use OLED screens, while LCD screens are mainly used in some mid-range and low-end models. Therefore, there have been very few high-quality LCD screen models on the market from last year to now. It’s uncertain whether this wave of LCD + screen fingerprint technology can drive the popularity of high-quality LCDs.
