Recently, the “Jiangsu Province Brain-like Intelligent Technology Innovation Center” was inaugurated in the New District. Focusing on brain-like intelligent technology, Academician Cheng Heping from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a professor at Peking University has once again come to the New District, bringing with him a plan of “three dimensions of elevation”. He will lead his team to continue breaking through a series of cutting-edge technological achievements.
At the same time, a group of mothers, with an average age of 35, have also developed their own careers while raising their children. With a bundle of colorful threads and a crochet hook, they sell their crochet works in their social circles, markets, and live broadcasts.
These two stories come from two articles published by Xiaobei last week. Although they focus on different directions, they share a similar theme: both the academicians and the mothers are speaking the same “C language” — innovation, entrepreneurship, and creation.
In the world of computers, the C language is the “mother tongue” for communicating with hardware. With innovative thinking, creating new businesses, this “C language” is gradually becoming the “common language” of the New District: Professor Huang Yihua from Nanjing University switched tracks at the age of 60 to start a business in the New District; Zhang Zhirui, a girl from Kunshan who just graduated from university, has opened her own small tavern in the New District; Professor Long Teng from Cambridge University is starting anew in the New District, launching several self-developed chip power products; Li Yan and her husband are starting a business in middle age, and the colorful fish they cultivate have been sold overseas from Panchi City…People of different ages, educational backgrounds, and life stages… diverse individuals are choosing innovation, entrepreneurship, and creation in this fertile land. Similarly, regardless of age or background, the New District opens its arms to every entrepreneur and dream chaser. Here, you can reach for the stars at the top of the technology tree, or bend down to nurture the seeds in the soil of life.Different groups of people are discussing the “C language” in the New District. Just as the C language builds the foundation of the computer world, innovation, entrepreneurship, and creation also blossom in the soil of reality, often going through numerous twists and trials. When various dream chasers settle in the New District, we can’t help but wonder what makes them choose to trust and root themselves here? In the vivid little stories, we find the answer.
Perhaps, the “strength” and “warmth” of the services make them feel at ease. At 128 Huakang Road, the leading enterprise in precision medicine for tumors, Shihe Gene, which has over 1500 employees, was once just a small team of five. In the early days of entrepreneurship, a sequencing machine worth over 2 million yuan posed a challenge for them. To address this, the New District funded the purchase of the equipment through a public service platform for biomedicine, allowing the company to rent it. Even after many years, when talking about the story of this “No. 1 machine”, the founder of Shihe Gene, Shao Yang, still feels deeply moved. Providing real financial support in times of need is the “strength” of the service, but for many dream chasers, the “warmth” found in the details also lights the way ahead. For example, after learning about the entrepreneurial needs of mothers, the Yongfeng Community in Pancheng Street proactively offered the activity room of the Party-Mass Service Center for their use. Now, this small activity room has a childcare space on the right and a “Dream Weaving Space” studio for mothers on the left. Amidst the laughter of children, the mothers’ crochet hooks fly even more joyfully.
Perhaps, the “patience” and “sincerity” of the support make them feel warm. After more than 20 years of experience in the laser field, Wang Haijun has placed his long-held dreams in the New District. Although the initial investment in equipment and production line layout for the project was substantial, the “funding combination” special fund established by the New District in collaboration with the Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Product Research gives him the confidence to continue this long journey. Various early, small, and long-term industrial funds from the New District also accompany enterprises through the test of time with “patience”. After four years of entrepreneurship, being recognized as a national high-tech enterprise, the “post-95” CEO Xu Chenxin treasures his entrepreneurial experience in the New District. In his view, there are youth innovation carriers, rental subsidies for entrepreneurial venues, and entrepreneurial guidance, providing full-cycle support for young talents; the free 14-day stay at the talent station and social activities make young entrepreneurs feel like “one of their own”, exchanging sincerity for sincerity.
Of course, the “innovation gene” deeply embedded in the New District resonates with their souls. In past interviews, we have encountered many “couples”, “father-son pairs”, and “sister teams” running together in the same direction, passing the baton to each other; we have also seen both innovative drugs and wearable armor exploring new paths for going global. Similarly, in the New District, various departments work together to regulate, the Jiangbei New District branch of the Provincial Drug Administration reviews and inspects, and the cross-border public service platform for data creates a resonance with innovators through various institutional innovations. Thus, stepping on this national-level new district’s fertile ground, all innovation and entrepreneurship seem to happen “naturally”.
Through these stories, we can glimpse the key to the mutual achievement between the New District and the innovators. Behind the “C language” of Jiangbei lies a broader urban development core, as well as the pattern and vision of this new city — here, dreams are never measured, the New District will always light a lamp of hope for every fighter and dream chaser. As more and more stories of the “C language” converge in the New District, where the rivers meet the sea, new worlds will emerge.
