Introduction
Recently, the 2025 World Robot Conference opened at the permanent venue of the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone – the Beijing Robot Conference Exhibition Center. In sync with the launch of the “Embodied Intelligent Society Experiment Plan” at this conference, the Planning and Natural Resources Commission of the Economic Development Zone has initiated the “Artistic Symbiosis Experiment of AI and Robotics”.
The base for this artistic symbiosis experiment – the Beijing Robot Conference Exhibition Center was originally the printing machine manufacturing base of the Beiren Group, which was established in 1952 and represents the highest level of domestic printing machinery technology. Deeply understanding the intrinsic requirements of empowering art for the industrial space renewal and quality improvement in Yizhuang New City, the Economic Development Zone has integrated public art into the overall work system of the Beiren Group’s printing machine manufacturing base, promoting a public art “AI+” creative model around the theme of “Robots, Technology, and Humanities”.
The Economic Development Zone led the formation of the “AI+ Creative Workshop”, inviting teachers and students from the Central Academy of Fine Arts’ Public Art Department and young artists to create works through a “real problem, real solution” approach, allowing artistic creativity to merge with AI technology, providing more inspiration and possibilities for artistic creation, achieving a deep integration of traditional art and modern technology, resulting in over a hundred excellent works. The chief planner of Yizhuang New City and relevant management departments of the management committee provided feedback and oversight, ultimately showcasing two outstanding works, “The Butterfly of Dreams” and “The Mechanical Welcoming Pine” at the World Robot Conference.
Work One: “The Butterfly of Dreams”
This work centers on the core imagery of “vitality”, symbolizing a transformation of new productive forces brought about by the “butterfly effect” of technological innovation, and also symbolizes the leapfrog development of the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone towards future intelligent manufacturing. The work constructs a cultural field of “technology and life”, conveying a beautiful vision of harmonious coexistence between artificial intelligence and robotics in technological evolution.
Work Two: “The Mechanical Welcoming Pine”
This work showcases the form of the “Welcoming Pine” with elegance, conveying the essence of Eastern etiquette and the warm welcome of the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone to guests from all over the world. The work merges mechanical arms with traditional Chinese landscape art across time and space, conveying the concept of “harmony between heaven and man”, constructing a scene of ecological and technological symbiosis.
The next step for the Economic Development Zone is to thoroughly summarize and enhance this “Artistic Symbiosis Experiment of AI and Robotics”, adhering to localized and categorized guidance, with the theme of promoting high-quality urban development, focusing on the main line of connotative urban development, and using urban renewal as an important lever to vigorously promote urban quality improvement.
