Teardown Confirmation! Huawei’s New Phone Unusually Uses Qualcomm Chip, No 5G Support

Huawei recently released a remarkable smartphone that does not feature a Kirin chip, but instead unusually adopts a Qualcomm chip.

The device is the Enjoy 70X Vitality Edition, priced starting at 1499 yuan, with a post-subsidy price of 1274.15 yuan.

After the launch, popular influencer “Yang Changshun Repairman” immediately conducted a teardown of the 256GB version of the device.

From the teardown video, compared to high-end flagships, the teardown process of the Enjoy 70X Vitality Edition is relatively simple. It can be seen that the battery is particularly large, utilizing a 6100mAh Huawei Whale battery, which the company claims can support continuous calls for 2.1 days.

During the teardown, it was discovered that the Enjoy 70X Vitality Edition is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, consistent with previous third-party software reports, indicating that this chip does not support 5G.

As for which specific Qualcomm chip it is, there are currently two claims online: some say it is the Snapdragon 695, while others suggest it is the Snapdragon 6s Gen3. Both chips are positioned as entry-level, and overall performance differences are minimal.

Additionally, the influencer noted during the teardown that the Enjoy 70X Vitality Edition is equipped with domestically produced RAM. “This is definitely a domestic chip.”

For reference, the Huawei Enjoy 70X released in January featured the Kirin 8000A chip, which supports 5G. “Yang Changshun Repairman” revealed during the teardown that the core components of the Enjoy 70X, such as the chip, storage (flash memory), and RAM, are all domestically sourced.

However, the Enjoy 70X Vitality Edition is also cheaper than the Enjoy 70X, which had a starting price of 1799 yuan at launch.

In terms of other specifications, the Huawei Enjoy 70X Vitality Edition features a 6.78-inch 3D dual-curved OLED display with a resolution of 2700*1224, supporting a 120Hz refresh rate, 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, AOD full-screen display, AI wet hand touch, as well as eye protection mode and e-book mode.

The device also supports sending Beidou satellite messages (only the 256GB and 512GB versions support this). When there is no ground network, long-pressing the Enjoy X key allows users to send or receive Beidou satellite messages via the Link application.

It is noteworthy that Huawei has demonstrated remarkable strategic resilience in this predicament. The teardown report shows that although the Enjoy 70X Vitality Edition uses a Qualcomm chip, the RAM has been replaced with domestically produced chips. This “hybrid supply chain” model ensures continuous product supply while providing a time window for domestic alternatives. In the high-end product line, Huawei maintains the competitiveness of the Kirin 9000 series through innovations such as chip stacking and architecture optimization, even under constrained processes. More profoundly, the deep integration of its HarmonyOS with self-developed chips is building an ecosystem barrier of software-hardware synergy.
