Voice | XiaobaiMediaTek and Qualcomm have both officially announced the release dates for their next-generation flagship SoCs, with numerous specifications leaked. From the paper specifications, the GPU performance seems to surpass Apple’s latest A16 processor. Today, we will provide a complete summary of the Dimensity 9200 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 information, as well as when the first flagship devices will be released.
First, let’s talk about MediaTek Dimensity 9200, which is officially set to be released on November 8 at 14:30, coinciding with the launch of the Blue Factory’s OriginOS 3.0.
In terms of specifications,Dimensity 9200leaks indicate: TSMC 4nm, AnTuTu comprehensive score of 1.26 million+ (currently the highest score disclosed by AnTuTu), CPU: 1*ARM Cortex-X3 super core + 3*Cortex-A715 mid cores + 4*Cortex-A510 small cores, GPU uses Arm’s latest Immortalis-G715, supporting hardware-level mobile ray tracing, engineering sample GPU score GFX ES3.0 328fps, Manhattan 3.1 228fps, likely debuting with the vivo X90 series, expected to be released in late November.
Qualcomm has officially announced that the annual Snapdragon Technology Summit will be held from November 15 to 17, during which the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will also be released.
In terms of specifications, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 leaks indicate: TSMC 4nm process, octa-core CPU architecture, 1*ARM Cortex-X3 super core @3.36GHz, 4*A715/A710 large cores @2.80GHz, 3*A510 small cores @2.02GHz, GPU Adreno 740.
The Samsung S23 engineering sample equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 scored 1524 in Geekbench 5 single-core and 4597 in multi-core. The engineering sample’s score shows a single-core improvement of about 16% compared to the Snapdragon 8+ production model, and a multi-core improvement of about 4%. (*The comparison here uses a Samsung engineering sample, actual performance may improve further)Currently, there is widespread discussion online that Dimensity 9200 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 both outperform Apple’s A16, referring to the GPU performance tests disclosed for these two SoCs.The Gfxbench Manhattan 3.1 1080P off-screen test results show that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 scores 217fps±, while the Dimensity 9200 scores 228fps.
For comparison, the Xiaobai evaluation database measured the peak of Apple’s A16 at 196fps, the Snapdragon 8+ at 184.41fps, and the Dimensity 9000+ at 168.17fps. Looking solely at the peak scores of Manhattan 3.1, the GPU performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Dimensity 9200 indeed looks impressive, but we will have to see how the power consumption performs.
As for the first new flagships equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, leaks indicate that the Moto X40 series, Xiaomi 13 series, vivo X90 series, OnePlus 11, iQOO 11 series, Samsung S23 series, and OPPO Find X6 series will all feature it, with Moto and Xiaomi possibly competing for the first launch, expected to be available by mid to late November or early December.Xiaobai Evaluation Recruitment AnnouncementResume submission email: [email protected]
