Zhang Min from Class 2403 of Computer Application

During the summer vacation, Zhang Min from Class 2403 of the Internet of Things Technology Department worked at the community service center, focusing on organizing historical archives. The core task was to standardize and digitize the historical archives accumulated by the community service center.

At the beginning of the practice, Zhang Min focused on “learning standards and building a foundation,” systematically studying the “Community Archive Management Operation Guide” to master the standards for document and electronic archive organization, classification logic, and binding requirements. Faced with nearly a thousand historical archives to organize, Zhang Min first conducted a comprehensive screening to eliminate duplicate and invalid documents; then categorized them into three main categories: “Public Service,” “Community Activities,” and “Daily Administration,” marking each document with a number and category using a special pencil to ensure clear ownership of each archive.Forarchiveissues, Zhang Min usedglueto repairdamagedpapers, verifying unclear handwriting by comparing with contemporaneous archives and consulting senior employees. At the same time, she undertook the digitization of paper archives, scanning documents page by page and adjusting clarity, effectively improving the efficiency of subsequent archive retrieval.

This practice allowed Zhang Min to gain a new understanding of the “value of ordinary work.” Initially, she felt demotivated by the tedious tasks of classification and scanning, but later learned that organizing social security archives helped residents solve medical insurance reimbursement issues. Zhang Min realized that each archive is a link connecting people’s livelihoods, and meticulous verification lays the foundation for community service. Throughout the practice, Zhang Min transitioned from making errors due to incorrect numbering to proficiently completing the entire process, developing the habit of “planning ahead, being meticulous during the process, and verifying afterward”; strictly adhering to the archive confidentiality system, deeply understanding that protecting residents’ information requires ensuring “no leaks, no losses, and no damage.”Showcase of Outstanding Volunteers from the Internet of Things Technology Department's Summer Social Practice (Part Four)

Zhang Min stated: This practice allowed me to step out of the theoretical comfort zone of the campus and feel the warmth of grassroots service. In the future, I will carry patience, meticulousness, and a sense of responsibility, actively participate in social services, and transform the knowledge I have learned into the power to serve others and contribute to society.
