“Currently, the automation level of various production systems in the nylon sector is increasing, becoming increasingly reliant on digital signals and network environments. The high demands for real-time performance, numerous protocol vulnerabilities, and frequent attacks pose serious threats to safe production, which raises higher requirements for the security of industrial control systems…” said a technician from Shenma Co.’s safety production department on August 16.

The security of industrial control systems is a crucial component of enterprise safety management. With the rapid development of information technology and the increasing risk of cyber attacks, it has become a core element in ensuring production safety, stable system operation, and continuity of industrial production. To comprehensively assess the existing issues in the industrial control systems of production units, and effectively enhance the security protection capabilities of these systems, Shenma Co.’s safety production department recently organized professionals to conduct a special inspection and rectification of the network security of the main production units in the nylon sector.
Inspectors conducted thorough checks on industrial control systems at various production units, strictly following relevant standards and regulations. In terms of network security systems, they focused on the establishment and performance of the network security leadership team, carefully reviewed the completeness of network security management measures, emergency plans, and other regulatory documents, and confirmed the implementation of daily operations, risk assessments, safety training, and emergency response.
Regarding industrial control security devices, inspectors checked the operational status of the devices, whether the protection systems were up to date, as well as access control in the control rooms, fire and moisture prevention measures, redundancy configurations for key equipment, and electromagnetic protection.
Inspectors also conducted a comprehensive check on the security of devices and systems, network and boundary security, data and application security, and the emergency management capabilities of production units.
It was found that most units had relatively complete industrial control protection systems; however, some units had issues such as incomplete security regulations, unclear division of security responsibilities, existing safety hazards in equipment, and insufficient awareness of network and data security among some employees. In response to these issues, inspectors compiled a list of problems, proposed rectification opinions and suggestions, and required responsible units to complete the closed-loop rectification within a specified time frame, while establishing a long-term mechanism to strengthen the “firewall” for safe production.
In the next steps, Shenma Co. will widely carry out safety education and training for industrial control systems, actively organize targeted safety training, integrate network security protection work into daily operations, and ensure it is consistently addressed. Additionally, they will actively utilize new technologies such as protocol encryption, two-factor authentication, and blockchain auditing to build a multi-layered network protection system, promote the safe and orderly flow of data elements, and solidify the digital foundation for creating a world-class enterprise.
