This year’s May Day holiday, the Gulongzhong Scenic Area in Xiangyang launched its first robot experience activity, where two humanoid robots made in Hubei became the focus of attention. What kind of wonderful experience will arise when the millennia-old Three Kingdoms culture collides with cutting-edge technology? Let’s take a look!

It is understood that the “Laborer” series of robots were designed and developed by Wuhan Gelanruo in collaboration with the team of Academician Chen Xuedong from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and have undergone two rounds of iterative development. The “Laborer” No. 2 stands about 180 cm tall and weighs approximately 100 kg, with a total of 30 degrees of freedom in its joints. It is currently the tallest and strongest robot on the market, adept at lifting dumbbells with ease. Notably, look! This handsome robot is ready to compete in a weightlifting challenge with the scenic area’s performer, the woodcutter! The impressive display of “Laborer” No. 2 attracted many tourists to interact and take photos.

In front of the San Gu Tang, a tourist from Luoyang, Henan, named Li Baofeng, excitedly told reporters after watching the robot performance that Gulongzhong is not only the place where Zhuge Liang cultivated the land but also where Liu Bei visited the thatched cottage three times. To see humanoid robots representing the forefront of today’s world technology in such a historically significant place feels extraordinarily meaningful.

Additionally, the reporter observed on-site that the arms of “Laborer” No. 3 are slimmer than its predecessors and can walk upright. It is said that this is a walking posture that scientists have been tirelessly pursuing and exploring in the field of humanoid robots, and “Laborer” No. 3 completed this evolution in just seven months. Wang Yufeng, a testing engineer at Wuhan Gelanruo Intelligent Robot Co., Ltd., introduced that “Laborer” No. 2 can carry a maximum weight of 60 kg, while “Laborer” No. 3 is the first humanoid robot in China capable of walking upright.

During the May Day holiday, “Laborer” No. 2 and No. 3 will conduct various interactive experiences at the Gulongzhong Scenic Area. The humanoid robot development team is also accelerating iterative updates, enabling them to participate in intelligent inspections, assist tourists with ticket checking, and transport goods, truly engaging in work.

A young visitor from Xi’an, Shaanxi, named Ren Yunjia said: “I have been a Three Kingdoms fan since I was little. Today, I not only saw live performances of my favorite characters Zhuge Liang, Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei, but I also witnessed a robot competing in weightlifting with an ancient woodcutter. I think this is a collision between ancient history and modern technology; it is very innovative and beautiful here.”

This May Day Golden Week, the Gulongzhong Scenic Area in Xiangyang is themed “May Day at Longzhong, Meeting Zhuge Liang,” creating an immersive interactive performance. Dozens of performers transform into characters from the Three Kingdoms, moving through the scenic area, leading tourists to become part of the Three Kingdoms stories through interactive mini-programs like “Liu Bei Recruiting Talents,” “Yue Ying Weaving,” and “Xiao Qiao Playing the Guqin.” Additionally, live performance programs will be staged in succession, and the robot brothers will also conduct a four-day interactive experience in the scenic area.

Wu Yong, the marketing director of Hubei Xiangyang Longzhong Cultural Park Investment Co., Ltd., stated that to enhance the tourist experience, the scenic area has launched a “Technology Creative Play Festival,” introducing the intelligent robot “Laborer No. 1,” which represents a perfect interaction between modern technology and the wise Zhuge Liang. In the future, the scenic area also plans to introduce projects such as virtual reality, robot guides, and smart coffee shops, creating new ways and experiences that combine technology and tourism.
