Research-based learning is a compulsory course for all ordinary high school students, which is of great significance for cultivating students’ innovative spirit and practical abilities, broadening their knowledge horizons, improving their overall quality, and adapting to the future social development needs.
The research-based learning course for the 2023 cohort of students at our school officially started in June 2024 according to the “Implementation Plan for Research-Based Learning at Chifeng No. 2 High School”. Projects were proposed and reviewed by class units, establishing 129 project groups covering various fields such as history and culture, social surveys, inventions, and artificial intelligence. With the help of class teachers and guiding teachers, each project group made full use of their spare time to conduct serious research and active practice on their selected topics, forming project reports through processes such as surveys, experiments, and data collection. In October 2024, during the class project report meeting, 24 outstanding project groups were selected in the preliminary review. After two rounds of strict re-examination by the school’s research-based learning review group, seven project groups, including “Smart Home System Based on Arduino” and “Dian Zhu Run Yu, Complementing Each Other in Green”, entered the excellent results display segment.
On December 24, the research-based learning achievement display and commendation conference for the 2023 cohort of second-year students was held in the school auditorium. Each project group prepared carefully, with rich and exciting content, creating a lively atmosphere with bursts of applause.

Dian Zhu Run Yu, Complementing Each Other in Green—— The Intangible Cultural Heritage of “Dian Cui”
“Dian Cui” is a traditional Chinese gold and silver jewelry making technique, which has become a brilliant pearl in the treasure trove of Chinese art due to its exquisite craftsmanship and unique artistic form. The project group introduced the history and ancient practices of the “Dian Cui” technique. The core of this craft lies in its unique material—kingfisher feathers, which, with their brilliant colors, unique textures, and extraordinary luster, become the indispensable soul of “Dian Cui” works. Notably, the project group made improvements and innovations by using inexpensive materials such as corn husks, and then used copper wire to shape the finished product, embellishing it with pearls and other small ornaments.

Zero-Cost Intelligent Collaboration—An Innovative and Efficient Web Application
The “Zero-Cost Intelligent Collaboration” project group aims to build an innovative market project solution system, breaking down cost barriers to attract more people to participate in the development and innovation of AI applications, providing a more convenient and efficient software experience. Based on this background, the team developed this software, relying on cutting-edge AI technology to construct a comprehensive innovative market project solution system, dedicated to promoting and applying “zero-cost construction of innovative and efficient applications”.

Collaborative Research on Ancient Ceramic Glazes and Blue-and-White Porcelain
The project group is dedicated to exploring the production processes, aesthetic characteristics, and collaborative development of ancient ceramic glazes and blue-and-white porcelain, promoting ceramic culture, celebrating the creativity and hard work of our ancestors, and passing on valuable historical heritage. The project group not only studied the production process of blue-and-white porcelain but also combined traditional craftsmanship with modern technology to create color-changing ceramics, achieving the goal of innovative inheritance.

Exploration of the Dunhuang Mogao Caves’ Ceiling and Its Innovative Pathways
The ceiling of the Dunhuang Mogao Caves, as the essence of Dunhuang art, contains rich historical and cultural connotations. The project group is dedicated to exploring the artistic style, pattern structure, and innovative applications of the ceiling in modern design, aiming to inherit and promote this millennium cultural heritage. To better inherit and promote ceiling culture, the project group identified two pathways: the first is to promote ceiling culture through internet media such as WeChat public accounts and Douyin to achieve public science education; the second is to design cultural and creative products and bring them to market to promote understanding through consumer behavior, achieving the expected results.

Research and Application of Quantum Locking Phenomenon in Superconductors Under Low Temperature Conditions
The project group focuses on the quantum locking phenomenon of superconductors under low temperature conditions, exploring the underlying physical mechanisms and potential applications. The group overcame difficulties such as extreme experimental conditions, investigating the differences in performance between low-temperature superconductors and ordinary conductors, and the reasons for the quantum locking phenomenon of superconductors in magnetic fields, measuring the kinetic energy loss of superconductors in magnetic tracks, and summarizing the applications and development prospects of this phenomenon in future developments.
Class 7, Year 2 Guiding Teacher: Wang Lingzhi
Shadow Play Innovation Research
The project group is dedicated to exploring the inheritance and innovative pathways of shadow play art, focusing on the historical origins, skill inheritance, cultural value, and innovative development of shadow play. Through diverse activities such as visiting folk artists, they achieved phased results in theoretical research, script creation, performance preparation, and data collection. They successfully produced a shadow play tribute piece for the centenary celebration of Chifeng No. 2 High School.
After the report, school leaders awarded prizes to the winning research-based learning groups, encouraging students to continue to maintain their enthusiasm for knowledge and exploration. The school will actively promote the construction of characteristic courses, using research-based learning courses to drive deep learning teaching reform, effectively transforming the education model, and laying a solid foundation for students’ comprehensive development and lifelong learning.
