PS5 Jailbreak Major Update: etaHEN 1.7B, Offline Flashing Guide for ESP8266 and ESP32

1. Offline Jailbreak

Hello everyone, the great LM recently updated etaHEN 1.7B, mainly supporting direct installation of PKG, now PS4 games and PS5 folder formats are supported.

Since we have already updated the online flashing guide before, the upgrade method is quite similar, so today we will focus on the offline flashing method for ESP8266 and ESP32, briefly introducing this upgrade and operation method, hoping everyone likes it.

Note: PS5 jailbreak firmware must be between 3.xx–4.51, other versions are not supported.

The ESP32-S2 chip is a new generation IoT microchip developed by Espressif, which has both Wi-Fi transmission and Bluetooth functions, built-in 4M storage space, and costs about a dozen dollars.

It is recommended to purchase chips with PSRAM expansion function.

We will use its Wi-Fi function to establish a hotspot to obtain data for flashing. This allows offline flashing without the need to connect to the internet, enhancing security.

The jailbreak currently only supports versions 3.xx, 4.03, and 4.50 (including 4.51), please upgrade to this version if you are on a lower version, and those on a higher version cannot use it.

2. Flashing the Chip

Flashing the ESP chip requires hardware, software, and firmware. Please first click to read the original text to download the required software, and pay attention to choose the appropriate driver and data according to your chip.

The flashing environment is a 64-bit PC.

Assuming you have installed a browser and itemzflow program, if not installed, please refer to the text below:

Now let’s start flashing the ESP chip, different chips require selecting different bin files:

1. First, install the chip driver, select “CP210X” for ESP32, and CH340 for 8266, no driver needed for WIN10 and above;

2. Install the Python runtime library;

3. Connect the chip to the computer via USB cable, ESP32 needs to press both buttons on the board, when the device manager recognizes the USB device’s port number, remember it;

4. Open the NodMCU flashing software, configure as follows:

Select the ESP32 COM port in Reload, for Flash MODE select QIO for 8266, and DIO for ESP32;
Select the corresponding chip data BIN file in Browe;
Select “yes, wipes all data” for the Erase Flash option;
Click Flash NodeMCU to start flashing

5. After the percentage completes, wait a moment, when the text “Staying in bootloader” appears, it means flashing was successful, you can unplug the chip for use.

3. Usage Method

1. Connect the ESP chip to the power supply, place it near the PS5;

2. Open the PS5 and select the network “Echostretch” or similar, password 12345678, it may also be without password.

It is normal to see an inability to connect to the internet since you are connecting to the chip’s hotspot;

3. Go to Settings/User Guide, Health and Safety, and Other Information/User Guide, if prompted that the security certificate is invalid, select “Yes” to enter;

If you have installed a browser, you can enter directly, remember to clear the cache first using a tool.

4. Enter the webpage, which will automatically recognize the system version, click on “Echo Stertch” in the middle or the versions on both sides;

5. After loading successfully, select Etahen, wait a moment, when the information about successful cracking appears in the upper left corner, immediately press the PS button to return to the desktop;

6. Go to Settings/Debug Settings/Game/Installer to install PS4 games; install itemzflow to play PS5 games.

6.1. (Optional) In the future, you can directly enter the jailbreak interface from the internet browser, wait a moment for the offline cache to generate, and then you can open the browser for offline jailbreak.

7. The ESP32 firmware provided this time adds a 100% success rate and 999 camouflage patches, theoretically it can succeed at once, but due to different situations, failures may still occur, just retry a few times.

4. Precautions

1. Many friends have asked, here it is repeated, currently after jailbreak not only can play PS4 games, but also supports over 90 PS5 games;

2. The maximum supported jailbreak version is 4.51, the minimum is 3.xx. But it is recommended that those on higher versions do not upgrade for now, there may still be opportunities;

3. Restarting the main machine after jailbreak will cause it to fail, it needs to be re-jailbroken, it is recommended to keep it in standby;

4. Important! If black screen freezes and other situations occur, it is normal because triggering the vulnerability is probabilistic, if multiple failures occur, please cut off the power for 5 minutes and then try again.
