Embedded Chip and System Design

The National College Student Embedded Chip and System Design Competition aims to enhance the independent innovation design and engineering practice capabilities of students in the field of embedded chips and system design, as well as in the application of programmable logic devices. It cultivates outstanding talents with innovative thinking, the ability to solve complex engineering problems, and a spirit of teamwork, while promoting collaboration between universities and enterprises in talent cultivation. Since its launch in March this year, the competition has attracted 735 higher education institutions, 11,800 teams, and 32,388 students, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Southeast University. After online preliminary reviews and offline semi-final evaluations in various regions, a total of 1,077 teams advanced to the national finals, ultimately awarding 158 national first prizes, 311 second prizes, and 550 third prizes.

Under the organization of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Electronic Information (Nanjing University), a competition briefing session was held on February 28 to introduce the competition background and track characteristics, encouraging faculty and students to register for participation. Prior to the submission of works, participating teams received guidance and training on documentation and videos, as well as practical training and project guidance before the semi-finals and national finals. Through effective organization and management, 18 teams ultimately advanced to the finals. After relentless efforts and fierce competition, Nanjing University achieved 7 national first prizes, 8 national second prizes, and 3 national third prizes. Additionally, the teams from Nanjing University also won the corporate cups from BoLiu Elite and DiGua Robot due to their excellent creativity and outstanding engineering practice capabilities. These achievements not only represent a high recognition of the professional quality and innovative abilities of the participating students from Nanjing University but also showcase the university’s educational achievements in the field of embedded chip and system design, as well as the successful practice of promoting academic competitions to enhance learning.

Embedded Chip and System Design

Nanjing University’s excellent performance in the competition is attributed to the strong support for undergraduate talent cultivation and the effective management of extracurricular practice by the experimental center. The university has always placed great importance on cultivating students’ innovative and practical abilities. The experimental center optimizes the curriculum for embedded practice courses and offers a series of specialized courses and practical classes related to embedded chips and system design, initially establishing a curriculum group focused on edge artificial intelligence to cultivate students’ solid practical skills. While laying the foundation with embedded experimental courses, the experimental center actively encourages students to participate in various academic competitions and innovation projects, forming a professional team of instructors to provide comprehensive technical guidance and training for participating students, thus ensuring strong support for students’ practical training. The competition results validate the success of the experimental center’s “course-competition-innovation” integrated collaborative education and practical teaching system.

In the future, the experimental center will continue to deepen the educational reform in the field of embedded chips and system design, focusing on cultivating students’ practical abilities, innovative capabilities, and teamwork skills, further enhancing the level of professional development and the quality of talent cultivation.
