Nanhai Shark Team Achieves Outstanding Results in National Embedded Chip Design Competition

From August 10 to 13, 2025, the National College Student Embedded Chip and System Design Competition Finals were successfully held at the Nanjing Integrated Circuit Training Base and concluded successfully. The Nanhai Shark Team from Hainan University performed excellently in this competition, with four participating teams standing out from numerous strong teams across the country after fierce competition through preliminary rounds, southern regional semi-finals, national comprehensive ability assessments, and national defense presentations, ultimately winning 1 first prize, 1 second prize, and 2 third prizes at the national level.

01
Authority of the Competition
The National College Student Embedded Chip and System Design Competition is jointly organized by the National College Student Embedded Chip and System Design Competition Committee and the China Electronic Education Association, and is an important subject competition included in the Ministry of Education’s “National College Student Competition List.” This competition aims to deepen the reform of innovative practice in higher education and cultivate top innovative talents in the field of embedded chip and system design. Since its establishment in 2018, the competition’s influence has been increasing day by day, forming a complete organizational system covering five major competition areas across the country, with three major tracks: chip application, chip design special competition, and FPGA innovation design special competition, becoming a high-level competitive platform for testing students’ innovative practical abilities in this field.

02
Intense Competition, Emerging Victors
This year’s competition was exceptionally fierce, attracting 11,800 teams from universities across the country. After layers of selection and intense competition, the finals were held at the Nanjing Integrated Circuit Training Base. According to the competition rules, the proportion of first prize winners in the national finals is extremely low, with only 158 teams receiving this honor (the winning rate is about 1.34%). Against this backdrop, the Nanhai Shark Team from Hainan University won 1 national first prize, 1 national second prize, and 2 national third prizes, the value of which is self-evident, fully demonstrating the solid professional foundation, outstanding innovative thinking, and efficient teamwork of the team members.

03
Hard Work in Preparation, Rewarding Efforts
During the intense preparation period, the Nanhai Shark Team members faced complex technical challenges and strict time constraints, fully utilizing their expertise to optimize design solutions meticulously, conducting extensive rigorous testing and debugging work. Ultimately, at the finals held at the Nanjing Integrated Circuit Training Base, they performed stably, and the technical level and innovation of their work received unanimous high recognition from the judges.

The National College Student Embedded Chip and System Design Competition and other high-level competitions provide students with an excellent platform to transform theoretical knowledge into practical applications. Through participation, students effectively enhance their ability to solve complex engineering problems, improve their level of innovative practice, and lay a solid foundation for their future engagement in related industries or further studies.

The Nanhai Shark Team from the School of Information and Communication Engineering at Hainan University has further ignited students’ passion for technological innovation with their outstanding achievements at the Nanjing competition, inspiring them to fully commit to serving national strategic needs and contributing their unique wisdom and strength to the technological advancement of China’s integrated circuit and embedded systems fields.
