Recently, MediaTek launched a new Dimensity 5G SoC – the Dimensity 700. This processor is positioned as an entry-level 5G processor, targeting the budget and mid-range market. It uses a 7nm process and features an octa-core CPU architecture, including two Arm Cortex-A76 big cores and six Cortex A55 efficiency cores. The clock speed can reach up to 2.2GHz, specifically 2*2.2GHz A76 + 6*2.0GHz A55, with a GPU of Mali-G57MC2@950MHz.
The Dimensity 700 supports advanced 5G technologies, including 5G dual carrier aggregation (2CC 5G-CA), 5G dual SIM dual standby (5G DSDS), high-definition 5G VoNR voice services, NSA/SA dual mode, and a peak 5G download speed of 2.77Gbps.Additionally, the Dimensity 700 also supports 5G UltraSave power-saving features, which reduce 5G communication power consumption through advanced energy-saving technologies, enhancing device battery life. This includes intelligent network environment detection, OTA content recognition, BWP dynamic bandwidth adjustment, and C-DRX energy management.
Subsequently, MediaTek announced that they will soon release a processor manufactured using TSMC’s 6nm process, featuring an ARM Cortex-A78 core design, with a maximum core frequency of 3.0GHz.
Leaks suggest that this processor, designated MT6893, will adopt a 1+3+4 octa-core design, with a GPU of Mali-G77 MC9. It was later discovered that the MT6893’s benchmark scores have already appeared on the Geekbench platform, with a single-core score of 4022 and a multi-core score of 10982, surpassing MediaTek’s flagship processor, the Dimensity 1000+, making it competitive with the Snapdragon 865.
According to MediaTek’s recent actions, these two processors will cover both the low-end entry and high-end flagship markets, further expanding MediaTek’s advantages.This year, MediaTek has released multiple processors, receiving positive feedback from the market. MediaTek itself has optimistic expectations for the sales of the Dimensity series processors this year.
At a recent media communication meeting, a MediaTek executive stated that they expect global shipments of 5G smartphones to exceed 200 million units this year, with shipments of MediaTek’s Dimensity series 5G processors exceeding 45 million units, meaning that approximately 20% of the 5G smartphones shipped this year will be equipped with MediaTek processors.Additionally, the MediaTek executive also mentioned that the company’s goal for this year is to achieve revenue exceeding $10 billion, with R&D expenditures expected to reach $2.5 billion.
