Low-Power Bluetooth Module Based on Nordic nRF54L Series Enhances IoT Applications

The innovative Minew ME54BS01 module integrates the nRF54L5 SoC, providing unparalleled performance and security for wireless connectivity applications.

Oslo, Norway – November 29, 2024 – As a global one-stop supplier of IoT wireless connectivity modules, MinewSemi has announced the launch of the ME54BS01 low-power Bluetooth module based on Nordic Semiconductor’s next-generation wireless SoC nRF54L series. This module is particularly suitable for IoT applications in industrial automation, healthcare, and smart homes, showing a qualitative leap in performance and security compared to previous modules. The ME54BS01 module adopts Nordic’s next-generation nRF54L15 SoC, which integrates a 128 MHz Arm® Cortex®-M33 processor, a RISC-V coprocessor, and an ultra-low-power multi-protocol 2.4 GHz radio, supporting protocols like Low Energy Bluetooth, Bluetooth Mesh, Thread, Matter, and Amazon Sidewalk. The module is equipped with a high-performance PCB antenna, measuring 23.2 x 17.4 x 2 mm, supporting an industrial-grade wide temperature range of -40°C to 105°C, and offers rich peripherals and 19 GPIOs, along with 1.5 MB of non-volatile memory (NVM) and 256 KB of RAM.

Double Processing Power

“Thanks to Nordic’s next-generation multi-protocol SoC, the processing power of the ME54BS01 has doubled compared to previous low-power Bluetooth modules, enabling support for edge computing and machine learning (ML) applications, making it an ideal choice for most future IoT solutions,” said Huang Shanhua, Senior Technical Support Application Engineer at Minew. “This module integrates ultra-low-power technology, significantly reducing product battery capacity requirements and extending battery life, allowing developers to create products more efficiently and thus build a maintenance-free and production-friendly IoT ecosystem.”

The nRF54L15 SoC integrates security features such as Arm TrustZone® isolation, side-channel protection, tamper detection, and encryption accelerators, ensuring high standards of IoT security design for the ME54BS01. These features provide strong protection for security-sensitive applications, enabling developers to easily build IoT products that meet security requirements without dealing with complex underlying security implementations.

“For over a decade, Minew has been working hand in hand with Nordic Semiconductor, a pioneer in ultra-low-power wireless technology for IoT,” Huang continued. “Nordic’s low-power Bluetooth solutions have been widely adopted across various industries, and the company also offers a range of communication technology solutions including Wi-Fi and LTE-M/NB-IoT.”

High-Quality Reference Designs

“Additionally, Nordic provides high-quality reference designs and development tools, combined with powerful and responsive technical support, making development work more efficient and convenient.” Minew has also released the “ME54BS02” module, which uses Nordic’s revolutionary nRF54H20 SoC. Apart from industrial automation, healthcare, and smart home IoT applications, the ME54BS02 is also suitable for high-end wireless applications such as electric vehicles (EVs), LE Audio, game controllers, VR/AR devices, and medical devices.

Minew is also one of our closely cooperating module partners, and the newly launched

ME54BS01 has attracted attention from various customers both domestically and internationally during the sample stage. Samples have been provided to dozens of customers, with positive feedback.
