The bendable display has undoubtedly become the biggest advantage for smartphones in terms of aesthetic differentiation. Currently, major manufacturers from China, Japan, and South Korea are making strides in the field of bendable displays. Recently, JDI announced that it has successfully developed a bendable plastic display panel, with a screen size of 5.5 inches, a resolution of 1080P, a maximum brightness of 500 cd/m² (typical value), and a contrast ratio of 1500:1.

In addition to its bendable characteristics, this display also utilizes plastic materials on both sides of the LCD panel, significantly enhancing its impact resistance. This technology sounds similar to Moto’s own ShatterShield technology, although Moto has not yet adopted it on a large scale.
JDI stated that this display can achieve a full refresh rate of 60Hz and can also operate as low as 15Hz to save power. It is expected that this display will enter mass production in 2018, and besides smartphones, it is anticipated to appear in laptops, automobiles, and various other products in the future.
