On the 21st, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba held a meeting with Nvidia CEO Huang Renxun at the Prime Minister’s official residence to discuss topics such as AI research and development.
Shigeru Ishiba stated that cooperation between Japan and the United States is essential for the effective use of robotic technology, while Huang Renxun pointed out that AI robots are very important for Japan and will bring innovation to Japanese companies.
According to reports from Japanese media, during the meeting with Huang Renxun, Ishiba emphasized, “To revitalize local areas, utilizing generative AI is very important. For the effective use of robotic technology and to bring happiness to people, cooperation between Japan and the United States is extremely necessary. What kind of support should the government provide? I would like to hear your (Huang Renxun’s) opinion.” Ishiba expressed, “I want to make Japan the easiest country in the world to develop and utilize AI.”
Huang Renxun shared his experiences of collaboration between Nvidia and Japanese companies, responding that “AI robots will bring innovation to Japanese companies.”
Nvidia is committed to developing AI-powered robots. After the meeting, Huang Renxun told reporters, “I told the Prime Minister that AI robots are very important for Japan. Because Japan has a large robotics industry. By integrating with AI, companies will undergo transformation.”
Huang Renxun also mentioned that he and the Prime Minister discussed how AI will fundamentally change all industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, education, and agriculture, and how these industries will evolve. He explained that as an emerging industry with huge demand for energy, Japan must build infrastructure for AI.
According to reports: To show support for Japan’s AI development plan, Huang Renxun also presented a DGX Spark AI supercomputer to Shigeru Ishiba.
