How Long Has It Been Since You Laughed Heartily, Semiconductor Professionals?

This is the 277th day of my daily updates.

Hello everyone, I am Benben.

An IC professional who wants to improve together with everyone.

The joy of an individual seems to be more restrained.

The joy of a group is easier to bring about hearty laughter.

I am an introverted person, and I prefer being alone rather than in crowded situations.

Listening to my favorite music, watching good movies, reading touching texts, playing melodies I find beautiful, and seeing the adorable side of children can all bring me joy, emotion, and satisfaction.

However, these feelings are relatively mild.

More intense positive feelings might be excitement and that kind of joy that makes one laugh heartily. Such moments are rare.

Thinking back, the last time I felt excited was when I spent a lot of time and energy resolving an anomaly in a chip.

This excitement came with a sense of achievement, leaving a deep impression.

But it seems that the last occurrence was quite a while ago.

As for the joy of hearty laughter, I couldn’t even remember the last time before yesterday. It seems I haven’t felt it for a long time.

However, in the past two days, I experienced it twice.

Once was yesterday, when I relaxed and chatted with my colleagues in my new position on the last working day before the May Day holiday. We laughed heartily as we got excited during the conversation.

The other time was today, when I took my family and a group of friends to a camping site in the suburbs of Shanghai. We barbecued, chatted, participated in a bonfire party, and watched fireworks. It was a lot of fun and triggered another hearty laugh.

I suddenly realized that this more intense and deeper joy seems to be triggered not when one is alone.

When we share joyful moments with others, we can express our emotions through words, expressions, and body language. This emotional exchange and resonance can amplify the joy.

When alone, even if something happy happens, due to the lack of interaction and sharing with others, joy often remains an internal feeling, difficult to reach the more intense and profound level experienced in a group.

Since the car accident last year, I lay in bed for several months. Subsequently, due to mobility issues, I reduced my social interactions significantly.

Fortunately, I am an optimistic person and have ways to entertain myself; otherwise, I would probably be feeling down.

Now that I think about it, it is indeed harder for sick people to feel happy, as social interactions become very limited.

Humans are social animals.

Many semiconductor professionals around me are busy with work and often work overtime. Many of them are too reclusive. Besides work, they just stay home alone.

Could we create a community for semiconductor professionals, where we can gather more on weekends to have fun?

We could talk about life, vent about work, and after getting familiar, we might even help each other at work.

Who knows, it might even lead to romantic connections.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

We should take our colleagues out more often and create more group joy.
