On the afternoon of June 11, 2019, the “Exploration of the Application of IoT Sensors in the Sports Industry” forum, hosted by the Nanshan District Science and Technology Innovation Bureau, co-organized by the Nanshan District Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Service Center, and undertaken by Shenzhen International Sports Expo Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen IoT Intelligent Technology Application Association, was successfully held at the Yuanzheng Entrepreneurship Building in Nanshan District, Shenzhen.

Before the forum officially began, Yu Yu, the executive president of the Shenzhen IoT Intelligent Technology Application Association, delivered an opening speech and briefly introduced the Shenzhen International Sports Expo. He expressed hope that the Shenzhen International Sports Expo could become a business card for Shenzhen in the future. He also stated that the Shenzhen IoT Intelligent Technology Application Association would fully support the construction and operation of the Shenzhen International Sports Expo, wishing for good communication and cooperation in future activities related to sports and technology, to unite and progress in the sports industry.

Liu Ping, the general manager of Shenzhen International Sports Expo Co., Ltd., also delivered a speech, stating that the application of sensor technology in the sports field has gained profound recognition both domestically and internationally. The scope of application for sensor technology in the sports field will continue to expand. Leveraging the comprehensive sports service platform and strong resources of the Shenzhen International Sports Expo, they aim to continuously connect with high-quality sensor suppliers from home and abroad and cooperate with the Shenzhen IoT Sports Professional Committee to jointly serve the application and landing of sensors in the sports industry.

This year’s Shenzhen International Sports Expo will be held in December at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, with “Sports Technology” being a key section of this year’s expo. We welcome everyone to visit and participate, and sincerely hope to work together with all present and more sports technology companies from home and abroad to enhance and strengthen this section. First, we will visit sports technology companies in Shenzhen to create sports technology parks and sports industry incubators; second, relying on the Shenzhen International Sports Expo, we will allow sports technology companies to utilize favorable policies to open up markets.

The first keynote speech was given by Dr. Lin Xin, the director of the Shenzhen IoT Research Institute. Addressing the topic of “Development of IoT Sensors and Their Applications in the Sports Industry,” Dr. Lin shared application cases of sensors in sports equipment and competitions, analyzing the prospects for sensor technology development in the sports field. He also emphasized a series of issues regarding the China-US trade war, summarizing its essence and China’s attitude toward it.

Following Dr. Lin’s speech, Mr. Zhang Chunkai, the marketing director of Shenzhen Ruge Technology Co., Ltd., gave an excellent introduction on the application of smart hardware and IoT in golf projects. As a leading indoor golf operator in China, Ruge uses high-speed camera sensors to accurately calculate the flight trajectory, angle, and distance of golf balls, realistically restoring the scene of the golf course, allowing sports enthusiasts to enjoy both sports and entertainment without leaving home. With rounds of applause, the audience expressed their appreciation and recognition of their products and technology.

Finally, the keynote speech was given by Mr. He Zhonghuan, the marketing manager of HandScape. Mr. He provided a detailed and exciting explanation of the application of touch field sensing technology in esports. With a background from Silicon Valley in the USA, HandScape introduced its patented core technology—touch field sensing technology—and how it developed its market through the development of external mobile phone handles. He shared the latest international sensor technology applications in esports.
