When devices face unexpected power outages from external power supplies, it can easily lead to data loss in memory or even system damage. The eUPS0505 embedded micro power backup module is compact and easy to use, providing stable backup power and quick power outage notifications, thus safeguarding embedded systems.
Application Scenarios and FunctionsIn embedded systems, many critical devices such as the main control MCU and memory require a stable power supply. If an unexpected power outage occurs, it can easily lead to data loss in memory or even system damage. Therefore, it is necessary to add power backup circuits to critical components to protect them from damage during power outages. The eUPS0505 power backup module is an integrated power backup circuit that provides backup power to devices during external power outages and outputs power outage notifications, allowing devices to perform operations such as data storage and system shutdown, ensuring data security and system stability during use.
Function Introduction and FeaturesAre you troubled by the complexity of discrete power backup circuit applications? Are you worried about unstable backup voltage? The eUPS0505 power backup module provides you with a comprehensive solution.
Figure 1: eUPS0505 Power Backup ModuleThe eUPS0505 power backup module is a board-level embedded micro power backup module designed by Guangzhou ZhiYuan Electronics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “ZLG ZhiYuan Electronics”). Below are its functions and features.1. Simple Application & Compact SizeThe eUPS0505 power backup module integrates all hardware designs of the power backup circuit except for the energy storage capacitor group. Using this module eliminates the need to consider the issues of building circuits with discrete components, such as component selection, circuit debugging, and handling complex circuit parameter calculations. It only needs to be soldered onto the PCB, and the module size is only 19.90*16.90*7.10(mm), which reduces the space occupied by the power backup circuit.2. Power Outage Notification & Adjustable ThresholdThe eUPS0505 power backup module only needs to connect the external power supply to the power outage detection pin through a pull-up resistor to monitor the power outage behavior of the external power supply. The power outage detection pin supports a wide voltage range for detection, and the power-on and power-off thresholds can be adjusted by changing the pull-up resistor value. When an unexpected power outage occurs, the eUPS0505 power backup module can quickly output a power outage notification signal, allowing the main control MCU to perform data storage and system shutdown operations.3. Stable Backup & Controllable OutputWhen the eUPS0505 power backup module detects an external power outage, the energy stored in the capacitor group can be converted into a stable 5V backup power output. The backup voltage will not exhibit linear decline or instability due to discharge. The eUPS0505 power backup module has controllable power backup functionality; during normal use, the power backup enable pin needs to be pulled high to activate the power backup function. After the system shuts down, the power backup enable pin should be pulled low to turn off the backup output, preventing the energy storage capacitor group from continuing to discharge to the main control MCU. Application Cases and DesignFigure 2 is a circuit diagram using the ZLG ZhiYuan Electronics M6Y2C core board as an example. nRST_OUT is the reset signal output pin of the core board, active low, connected to the module CTRL pin to control the eUPS0505 power backup module’s backup output. The module’s VINT pin is connected to an interrupt-supporting I/O pin on the M6Y2C to receive the power outage notification signal. It is recommended to use a 5.2V power supply for VIN to stabilize the circuit. When the voltage is detected to be off, the VINT pin outputs a low level, and when the M6Y2C detects the low level output from the VINT pin, it performs data saving operations and finally executes the “poweroff” shutdown command to turn off the system power.
Figure 2: M6Y2C Core Board Application CaseFigure 3 is a circuit diagram using the ZLG ZhiYuan Electronics M3568 core board as an example. The module’s CTRL pin is connected to an I/O pin on the M3568 that defaults to low, and the module’s VINT pin is connected to an interrupt-supporting I/O pin on the M3568. After the system starts, the CTRL pin needs to be controlled to high to enable power backup. When a power outage occurs, the eUPS0505 module’s VINT pin outputs a low level, and when the M3568 detects the low level output from the VINT pin, it immediately performs data saving operations and finally actively controls the CTRL pin to low to turn off the eUPS0505 module’s backup output.
Figure 3: M3568 Core Board Application CaseThrough the above application cases, we can see that the eUPS0505 power backup module is very easy to use, not only improving data security and system stability but also bringing great convenience to design and maintenance. If you need more information about the eUPS0505 power backup module, please visit:https://www.zlg.cn/ipc/ipc/parts.html
