On the touch screen, we often need to create some buttons, such as a start button, stop button, etc. We will explain how to create these buttons using the Mitsubishi touch screen as an example.

In Mitsubishi’s GT Designer3 software, you need to create a button by selecting the “Bit Switch” option under the “Switch” item in the “Object” menu, then drag out a button on the touch screen interface and configure it.

1. Soft Element Settings:

In the soft element settings, we choose the M variable. Here, do not select the PLC input points as variables; instead, choose the auxiliary relays as associated variables, and then select the corresponding action states for the associated variables. The action states are as follows:

1. Set: After touching, set the state of this switch to ON, and keep it ON after releasing.

2. Reset: After touching, set the state of this switch to OFF, and keep it OFF after releasing.

3. Toggle: Touch once to change the state of the switch.

4. Momentary: ON while pressed, OFF when released.

The configuration is shown in the figure below.

Description of the indicator light function key.

The state in the indicator light function key is a readable state, with the respective descriptions as shown:

2. Style Settings:

In the style settings, you can set the shape of the switch button, border color, fill color, etc.

3. Text Settings:

Through text settings, you can name the button, for example, naming it as a start button or stop button. The naming can be done directly or indirectly; direct naming involves entering the actual name directly into the button, while indirect naming is done through comments.
