Compared to expensive Iron Man model toys, IronBot, which can be infused with “soul” using an old smartphone to accompany children in play and DIY learning, seems to be a more worthwhile investment. This project, which won an award at last year’s China-US Youth Maker Competition and has officially raised funds on Indiegogo, comes from the development team co-founded by Hu Tao. With their simple DIY kit, children aged 8 and above can assemble up to three types of robots, including a robotic arm, a humanoid robot, and a bipedal walking robot.
In addition to intuitive real-time control and playful interaction, parents can encourage their children to set movement trajectories for IronBot, allowing for more advanced applications. IronBot can be programmed with simple movement logic using a graphical XLink editor, enabling children to learn STEM and related knowledge — in the example mentioned in the video, this robot can even transform into an actor to accompany children in performing a play!
