Previously, we disassembled two low-cost multimeters, and also disassembled a more standard multimeter. We can see that the design of multimeters is basically similar, with differences in some design details and materials. This time we will dissect a different type of multimeter – the clamp multimeter. This type of meter uses a CT current transformer to measure current non-contactly. Ordinary multimeters’ NCV function can only measure whether there is electricity, similar to an induction voltage pen.
Disassembly
The model of this multimeter is UA3268A from Youyi High-Tech, basic parameters: 3.5 digits, 600A, backlight, 1999 display, TRMS effective value, automatic shutdown, AC.

This meter uses a 1.5V AAA battery, which is different from the usual 9V battery used in multimeters. This type of battery is more common and convenient, smaller, and also indicates lower power consumption.

The battery uses a spring contact design, which is different from the usual wiring. This is the first time I have seen such a design, which can save wiring and connectors, making it much simpler and easier to assemble.
