Bark Park brings together four educational and innovative projects under one roof – connecting students, researchers, and staff with shared sports facilities and urban character.

It is a building that challenges the mind and body and creates a strong connection between the building and its surroundings. Using the sports facility as a “roof” spanning four houses, we create a shared experience, both physical and spiritual, while also creating a new hybrid between knowledge and sport.

These are four separate volumes but interconnected in several ways: the space of the city floats over the building at the entrance, and the crossed staircase connects the three-storey atrium and the top-floor public realm. The sports facilities on the top floor hover above four heavy houses and give the building a truly inspiring identity. As night falls, a story about the vibrant environment of education, research and sport begins.

A large skylight illuminates the public square, where a conference centre with social and administrative functions is located in the heart of the building. Standing in the square, the intersecting staircase in the building is an additional spatial layer.

Each house in this building has its own façade, with concrete contrasting with the brightness of the staircase.
