Can’t stand it! NVIDIA’s recent actions have completely pissed me off!Just now, a friend of mine in the chip industry risked getting fired to leak some explosive news to me: NVIDIA’s graphics cards specially supplied to the Chinese market are all severely “castrated”!What does “castrated” mean? Simply put, these guys have locked the computing power of the graphics cards! You spend a lot of money to buy one, only to find that it runs AI models as slowly as an old lady walking! Multi-card interconnection? Don’t even think about it! NVIDIA has made it very clear, running multiple cards together will directly throttle your performance to freezing point!Isn’t this bullying?!To cope with the U.S. “chip ban”, NVIDIA even specially created a “special supply version” of the H20 AI training graphics card for us in China. Guess what? Even this “castrated product” is being fought over by major tech companies in the country!Even Tencent, a giant in the internet industry, has to bow down! What can we do? We can’t let our AI projects stall due to a lack of “chips”, right? Isn’t that frustrating?!This situation, on a small scale, is NVIDIA’s “big store bullying customers” and double standards; on a larger scale, it’s the U.S. blatantly suppressing Chinese technology!A few years ago, the U.S. imposed sanctions and blockades on Chinese tech companies like Huawei and ZTE, using every means possible. Now, it’s the turn of chips! They want to strangle our high-tech industry in its cradle! In the face of this “neck-choking” dilemma, what can we do? Should we just kneel and call them “daddy”?To hell with that! I refuse to accept it!Isn’t NVIDIA powerful? Aren’t they “unmatched in the world”? Fine, I’ll show you that China can still thrive without you!According to industry insiders, the accelerated computing server market in China will reach $19 billion by 2024, with GPU servers accounting for 74%! Why should we give such a big cake to NVIDIA?!“Crisis breeds opportunity”, NVIDIA’s self-destructive behavior has instead brought a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for domestic GPU manufacturers!Look, Jingjia Micro has made a breakthrough with its JM11 chip! This JM11 is not just a “showpiece”! According to my friend, this chip started development back in May 2023, with the goal of taking down NVIDIA! By early 2024, the JM11 has successfully taped out and is likely to hit the market this year!In terms of performance, the JM11 directly competes with NVIDIA’s 20/30 series. It has an FP32 computing performance of 6T and an FP16 computing performance of 12T, comparable to the RTX2060. The pixel fill rate is 192GPixel/s, which can compete with the RTX3090!Of course, compared to NVIDIA’s latest 40 series, there is still a gap. But folks, this is already impressive! Keep in mind, our domestic GPUs started late and have a thin foundation; achieving this level is no easy feat!Besides Jingjia Micro, there are many other domestic GPU manufacturers quietly making strides. Huawei HiSilicon, Haiguang Information, Moore Threads… you may not be familiar with these names, but they are all working hard for the rise of domestic GPUs!It can be said that the domestic GPU industry is entering a “golden age”!However, we must also recognize that the road ahead is still long, and there are many challenges. Technology, market, talent… every aspect must not be taken lightly. But, what are we afraid of?! When have the Chinese ever feared difficulties?Back then, we were poor and had nothing, even calling matches “foreign matches”, yet we still managed to develop atomic bombs, hydrogen bombs, and artificial satellites! Now, we have technology, funding, and talent. Are we still afraid of a small chip?
I believe that it won’t be long before we can take down NVIDIA and let them know that Chinese chips are not to be trifled with! What do you think? In which field do you believe domestic GPUs are most likely to achieve breakthroughs first?Hurry up and leave a comment to let everyone see your stance! Don’t forget to like, share, and check it out, so more people can see this article and cheer for domestic GPUs!
