The Bluetooth speaker is an essential tool for many music lovers. When used indoors, its wireless connectivity greatly enhances usability while minimizing the impact on sound quality. In this issue, I will share a Bluetooth speaker from the domestic brand Vanding, codenamed F208. Its mini body features a shell-like curved design, making it portable. The device uses a dual speaker design and supports local FM radio, Bluetooth, and USB player modes, delivering loud and clear sound.
In terms of appearance, the F208 is completely different from traditional Bluetooth speakers. While traditional Bluetooth speakers often use rectangular or circular structures, the F208 innovatively adopts a rounded shell-like shape. Its small size allows it to be easily carried on the wrist with a strap, creating no sense of burden. The F208’s shell is made entirely of plastic, with a stable and sturdy structure achieved through hidden screws. The version I received is white, with a black screen and logo, creating a striking contrast. Due to its small size, it can be placed on a desktop or hung on a bag, and when paired with a power bank or spare battery, there is virtually no anxiety about battery life.
Looking at the front of the device, the actual front shell of the F208 is the upper part of the shell. It is designed with a curved transition, resembling an eggshell that fits over the top, seamlessly assembled with the bottom shell’s support structure. The front shell has a textured feel, with a one-piece structure, and the surface features small holes that form a mesh shape, allowing visibility of the internal components, which include standard left and right dual speakers. The dual speaker effect is certainly better than a single speaker, providing louder volume, smooth sound quality, and symmetrical stereo sound for a more immersive listening experience.
At the junction between the speaker and the middle frame, the F208 also features a nail-sized blank area where the machine’s screen is located. The screen is small, covered with a black acrylic panel, shaped like an oval, but only the center displays a nail-sized area with red characters and no backlight. Although small, the screen shows the battery icon, alarm clock, and FM icon, along with a digital number. From the design of the screen and the front curved top cover, the F208 resembles a classic TV box, fitting seamlessly with the connection cables.
Below the screen is the button area of the F208, designed in a horizontal line layout. The buttons include only track switching, tuning, and menu buttons, arranged side by side without backlighting, making operation somewhat stiff and the experience less than ideal. Correspondingly, the back of the device’s middle frame features the F208’s expansion interfaces, laid out in a recessed slot, including a standard USB port, a micro USB port, a TF card slot, a headphone jack, and a wheel-type volume control button. Connecting the power line, USB port, and headphone line, the F208 is moving towards the direction of a TV box.
When powered on, the F208’s signature feature is its Bluetooth speaker capability. By connecting to a phone or computer to play songs, the sound quality of the F208 is much better than expected. When playing standard 128kbps MP3 songs, the F208’s feedback is not dry; the sound quality is rich, and the music is three-dimensional, with the dual speaker effect being outstanding. Since the device is placed flat on the table, the sound projects upwards, creating a more open sound without obstruction. The advantage of Bluetooth is that it does not require connecting wires, but playing low-bitrate songs can lead to a significant drop in sound quality.
Switching to the F208’s radio mode, it automatically searches for stations and plays them directly after storage. The device plays local FM radio programs, and the number of stations is limited. In the suburban area of my third-tier city, I can receive 4-6 stations, with a music station broadcasting for 10 hours, continuously playing songs. The FM broadcast is stable and continuous without needing an antenna or moving position, with voices centered. When connecting headphones, the sound is louder, but the length of the headphone cable is limited, and the F208 itself is somewhat bulky.
In summary, the Vanding F208 Bluetooth speaker is also positioned as a small player, with simple operation and convenient use. Compared to dedicated Bluetooth speakers, it is smaller; however, compared to traditional MP3 players, it is quite heavy. The best scenario for using the F208 is indoors, or for retired elders at the gate, quietly playing music after meals, leisurely passing the time.
