Yesterday (August 11), MediaTek officially launched two new products in the Dimensity series of 5G mobile platforms – Dimensity 920 and Dimensity 810. Related terminal devices are expected to be launched globally in the third quarter of 2021, with realme likely to be the first to feature the Dimensity 810.
So, as the latest two mid-range chips launched by MediaTek, are Dimensity 920 and Dimensity 810 worth our expectations?
Dimensity 920Dimensity 920 is an optimized upgrade of Dimensity 900, utilizing TSMC’s 6nm process technology. The CPU’s large core frequency has increased from 2.4GHz to 2.5GHz, and the GPU remains the Mali-G68 MC4. However, the official claim states that it improves gaming performance by 9% compared to Dimensity 900, indicating that the GPU frequency has likely been overclocked.

It adopts TSMC’s 6nm process technology, which inherently provides better energy efficiency compared to its predecessor’s 7nm process.
Dimensity 810 still uses the ARM Cortex-A76 architecture, with a frequency of 2.4GHz, the same as Dimensity 800U, but its integrated Mali-G57MC2 GPU is the weakest in the family. Therefore, its actual performance will not be much better than Dimensity 800U, but theoretically, it can achieve longer battery life and lower heat generation.
