Recently, Arduino officially launched two new products: Portenta X8 (Core Version), Max Carrier (Expansion Board).

According to the official blog description, these two products are revolutionary and more powerful Arduino products.
Let’s interpret some important information about these two products.
Portenta X8, is a plug-and-play, industrial-grade powerful core board in the Arduino Pro series.
It is not an ordinary core board; it is equipped with two high-performance processors: NXP i.MX 8M Mini and STM32H747XI.

It includes cores such as Cortex-A53, Cortex-M7, Cortex-M4.
Arduino, Dual System Linux
Onboard are two processors, where the STM32H7 processor runs Arduino code, and the NXP i.MX 8M Mini processor runs the Linux operating system.

The board has AI and ML capabilities, with a wide range of applications, such as: Industry 4.0, smart agriculture, interconnected buildings, and smart cities.
If this development trend continues, Arduino will have to catch up with Raspberry Pi…
As of now (2022-05-12), the Portenta X8 is available on the official website for 199 euros (approximately 1409 yuan), which is still a bit expensive, possibly due to the rise in chip prices.

Max Carrier is not yet on sale and will be launched soon.
