As of August 16, 2025, Excel has updated over 300 companies. Whether you have already received an offer or will receive one in the coming months, you will ultimately face the offer selection issue. You may have heard that
choice is greater than effort. If you chose the wrong major in the college entrance examination, you can switch majors through graduate school, but when it comes to employment, that becomes quite difficult! At this point, as a fresh graduate, if you initially studied software and now want to work in hardware, it’s not very realistic.
Therefore, there are currently two major choices: one is the industry, and the other is the company type. So I plan to first discuss the impact of company type on embedded engineers. The following information is reliable, but it cannot be said to be comprehensive (my personal ability is limited). Feel free to comment, message me, or join the group chat if you have any additions or want to discuss.

Concept

State-owned enterprises:
The third-level companies under state-owned enterprises are state-owned enterprises, and some shell companies/outsourcing companies of state-owned enterprises are also referred to as state-owned enterprises by some HRs. Be cautious, as some HRs may use nicer terms! The traps are real! One more thing: the second-level company is the parent of the third-level company! Everyone understands this!
2
Traps
First, let’s talk about traps: some state-owned enterprises recruit based on broad categories, which can be seen on third-party platforms, such as R&D type/electric motor control, rather than embedded software/electric motor control algorithm positions. If you see this, “congratulations,” you may end up assigned to a mechanical position/design role, and then you’ll have nowhere to cry; the trap lies here. This is also something many people overlook. If you feel what I said makes sense, please give a thumbs up!
Some campus recruitment positions require internships; I heard of a state-owned enterprise where interns have to work in shifts for three months, waking up at 5 AM to work in a factory, tightening screws, real screws!
3
Technology
First, ensuring you don’t fall into traps is the foundation for discussing technology:
For embedded-related positions, it is very attractive because of the clear trend towards domestic production. Major companies, fearing being constrained, have started using their own operating systems and other tools/components; they have to cover their bases!
4
Work Rhythm and Pressure
I believe everyone knows this point; the work rhythm means that if you go to such a company, you must have a sense of national pride!
5
Employee Mobility
In these companies, employee mobility is relatively lower compared to private enterprises, but some companies will use various means to push you out without compensation. If you receive an offer, you can check the company’s black history on certain platforms!
Foreign Enterprises
Be careful to distinguish whether it is a real foreign enterprise or a fake one. For example, some Taiwanese companies; pay attention to me, I will publish an article on this later!
1
Technology
In state-owned enterprises, the technology trap is real; foreign companies generally adjust according to their needs. However, if your contract states HR, it’s unlikely you can switch to software once you’re in.
You can look at the electronic components around you, such as mobile phones/cars; what percentage of the core electronic components are domestically produced?
Some may think that the core of foreign enterprises is definitely developed in their home country. While this is undeniable, it is incorrect to say that you won’t learn any technology in a foreign R&D position. Additionally, the various systems, management, and methods of foreign enterprises are still worth learning.
2
Work Rhythm and Pressure
Most of the time, there is overtime pay; if not, you should ask about it. Generally, there is both work and life.
3
Employee Mobility
In the current environment, except for foreign enterprises with absolute positions in technology/products, it’s tough to work there because domestic companies often have a 996 work culture, which is quite exhausting! Therefore, in the past two years, mobility has been somewhat high, and layoffs usually come with compensation!
Private Enterprises
1
Innovation and Cutting-Edge
In state-owned enterprises, the technology trap is something to be aware of. In private enterprises, you can definitely learn more knowledge in technology, and the tech stack rises relatively quickly, especially with the 996 work culture. Work rhythm and pressure
2
Rhythm
After receiving an offer, make sure to inquire whether it’s a 996 work culture; don’t just listen to HR! Because private enterprises tend to offer higher salaries, the pressure is also the greatest. How to inquire? You can ask colleagues at that company, or I can help you join a group for free to find out if there are any recent hires.
3
Talent Mobility
Based on what I currently know, mobility is significant; some companies directly lay off employees after project completion, so be careful! You can also join a group to see the company’s black history for free! Haha
Follow me, and I will later publish articles on campus recruitment, internal referrals, interview experiences, projects, and avoiding pitfalls. Thank you all!
