144Hz LCD Direct Screen, Full DC Dimming, Dimensity 8200 Ultra: A High-Performance LCD Smartphone Choice

Yesterday, I wrote about two high-performance LCD smartphones, the iQOO Z8 and the vivo Y100T. To avoid missing out, today I will also cover the Redmi Note 12T Pro, which features the same LCD screen and high performance with the Dimensity 8200 Ultra.

Many people are interested in the Redmi Note 12T Pro, primarily because of this screen.

The Redmi official has put significant effort into promoting this screen, using terms like “LCD Annual Good Screen,” “Heavily Customized,” “High-Quality Calibration,” and “Tenfold Eye Protection” in their marketing.

The actual specifications are indeed impressive: a 6.6-inch LCD direct screen, 2460×1080 resolution (407 PPI), 144Hz variable refresh rate (7 levels of adjustment) + 270Hz touch sampling rate, supports full DC dimming, SGS low blue light certification, HDR 10, peak brightness of 650 nits, covers 100% of the P3 color gamut, and displays 1.07 billion colors with ΔE≈0.44.

The global brightness reaches 650 nits, providing decent visibility in sunlight. It supports Dolby Vision and Frame Enjoy Ultra HD dual certification.

From the feedback, most users indicate that this screen is indeed eye-friendly, but it requires manual adjustment upon receiving the device. If you prioritize eye protection features, this is worth considering.

The Dimensity 8200 Ultra used in the Redmi Note 12T Pro offers slightly better performance than the standard Dimensity 8200 due to its more advanced manufacturing process, making it more power-efficient. The main difference is that the Dimensity 8200 Ultra has an integrated 5G modem, while the standard version does not. It also features an ARM Mali-G77 GPU, enhancing imaging capabilities.

This chip performs very smoothly, comparable to the Snapdragon 888 (but without overheating). It handles daily tasks well and performs decently in gaming, with an average frame rate of 119 FPS in Honor of Kings and 55.6 FPS in Genshin Impact.

In terms of memory and storage, it offers RAM options of 8GB/12GB LPDDR5 and ROM options of 128GB/256GB/512GB UFS 3.1 (no storage expansion support), which is quite sufficient.

The body is entirely plastic, with straight edges, a thickness of 8.87mm, and a weight of 200g. While I won’t comment on the feel, the narrower body (74.92mm) makes it comfortable to hold with one hand.

In terms of imaging, the main camera is 64MP, supporting OIS optical stabilization, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro camera, providing decent shooting results. The front camera is a single 16MP.

The battery capacity is 5080mAh, with 67W wired fast charging, ensuring a full day of usage without issues.

Other peripheral configurations include full 5G support, 1012+1216 stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos support, commendable sound quality; X-axis linear motor, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 (supports LDAC high-definition audio), NFC, infrared remote control, 3.5mm headphone jack, and IP53 dust and water resistance. Overall, it can be considered a comprehensive LCD smartphone, very convenient for daily use.

The price of this phone fluctuates significantly on second-hand platforms like Xiaohuangyu:

You can refer to the transaction range shown in the image. Additionally, I wonder if anyone has heard the saying, “Dimensity paired with Redmi, the more you use it, the worse it gets.” I don’t know if it’s a compatibility issue or what, but there are some strange bugs, like inexplicably poor signal quality.

Most people buy this phone for the LCD eye protection screen, so it’s essential to confirm whether it is a refurbished unit before purchasing.

However, refurbished units are still acceptable as long as the price is right. I specifically checked, and Xiaomi officially supports screen replacements for the Redmi Note 12T Pro at a cost of 220 yuan, so as long as the price is reasonable, buying a refurbished unit is not out of the question~
