To alleviate work stress and enhance communication among colleagues, the BB&SoC union organized a unique badminton competition. Once the event was announced, it received enthusiastic responses, with colleagues from various departments eagerly signing up.

Rather than a competition, it was more of a casual sporting event, allowing those who usually engage in mental labor in the office to step onto the court and enjoy the joy that sports bring.
On the day of the event, everyone made their way to the gym, starting with friendly matches. Participants could form teams in advance or team up on-site, with singles and doubles freely mixed. Colleagues who usually collaborate in the office set up their formations on the court, ready to compete. Although not everyone had professional gear, everyone was full of energy. Some younger colleagues seemed determined to win, while others engaged in a more relaxed game, with the shuttlecock leisurely flying through the air like a well-fed pigeon. Players didn’t need to run all over the court, just trying to hit the shuttlecock to a spot where the opponent could reach it. Occasionally, if someone didn’t hit hard enough and the shuttlecock fell short of the net, both players would share a smile.

After the morning session, everyone took a short break, packed up their gear, and went out for lunch. The restaurant chosen was less than 500 meters from the gym. After the intense morning activities, it was clear that everyone was hungry, and the food was devoured quickly, with dishes disappearing in no time, and everyone praised the meal as delicious. After lunch, everyone took a stroll in a nearby park to digest and enjoy the last hints of spring before summer.

As the afternoon sun streamed into the gym, the temperature rose slightly, and the badminton competition entered its critical phase. The individual matches officially began. Twelve participants, eagerly signed up from various departments, would compete fiercely, with the top three winners earning the title of “Badminton Experts” from the BB&SoC union.
The twelve participants were divided into six courts, and considering everyone’s stamina, the competition was set to a single game format, where the first to reach twenty-one points would win. The first round would eliminate six participants, and the remaining six would face off in the final.
As the matches began, the atmosphere in the gym was noticeably different from the relaxed vibe of the morning. The sound of rackets hitting shuttlecocks echoed, accompanied by the sounds of exertion and sneakers on the court, reflecting everyone’s desire for victory. After about an hour, the results were clear across the six courts. Among the six winners, three were from the RCP group, with one each from SW, HW, and PME groups. Next was the drawing of lots, where those with the same number would be paired together. Ultimately, two colleagues from RCP faced off against each other, while a colleague from SW was matched with another from RCP, and the remaining participants from PME and HW faced off.

As the whistle blew, the matches began, with colleagues cheering for their respective teams around the court. Compared to the earlier matches, the skills of the participants in these three matches were impressive, indicating that they were at least badminton enthusiasts. Techniques typically seen only in professional settings, such as smashes and angled shots, were frequently employed. The loudest cheers came from the court where colleagues from SW and RCP were competing, with both players displaying agility and decisiveness, moving back and forth between the net and the backcourt, seizing opportunities to leap high for a smash, catching their opponent off guard. It was clear that both players were evenly matched, and the scores were closely contested, keeping their respective cheer squads on edge.

About half an hour later, one of the courts had a winner, and after another ten minutes, all three courts concluded their matches. The final three winners came from the RCP, SW, and PME groups. Congratulations to them for earning the title of “BB&SoC Badminton Experts.” Reactions to the results varied, with some cheering and others expressing disappointment, but everyone wore smiles reflecting the joy of sports.
The arcs traced by the shuttlecocks in the air revealed a side of colleagues rarely seen. This badminton event not only determined winners but also showcased the team’s vitality and passion. It allowed employees to relax amidst their busy work schedules and brought them closer together. This spirit of striving and teamwork is expected to carry over into their work, injecting new energy into the company’s development.
