Meizu claimed back in the MX3 era that it would adapt to the Ubuntu system, but how it has progressed to date is not much to say. Recently, Meizu seems to be revisiting the old matter and restarting the adaptation of the Ubuntu system. Weibo @C Technology released a set of photos suspected to be Meizu adapting the Ubuntu system, this time adapting the Ubuntu system on Meizu PRO 5.
The advantage of the Ubuntu system is that it brings a new way to use smartphones, without relying on traditional apps to fill your main screen. Through Ubuntu’s Scope, you can present the content you care about directly on your main screen, and the content and services you query do not need to be hidden behind a maze of app grids. At the same time, Ubuntu provides users with a brand new experience in operation, most mobile operations can be completed by sliding up, down, left, and right. Of course, this requires some time to get familiar with.
Back to Meizu, many people have been looking forward to the adaptation of the Ubuntu system since the MX3 era, but it seems that Meizu has not yet adapted anything. And this adaptation is not officially released by Meizu, so whether it is real awaits solid information from Meizu.

Microsoft’s first Patch Tuesday update of 2016 seems to have encountered some issues, with one update failing to install correctly on Windows 7 devices, and currently, there is no workable solution. A post on the Microsoft community forum indicates that the security update KB3110329 fails during installation, showing error code 800705B4.
Searching online for solutions seems to yield no clues, and there is currently no way to install this update correctly. Microsoft seems to be unaware of the issue, so this problem may only occur on a small number of Windows 7 PCs.
A user encountering the issue on the forum said: “I also encountered this problem. I tried several methods, but this update just cannot be installed. It always fails at 12%, rolling back the update installation.”
KB3110329 is the update released by Microsoft on January 12 of this year, marking the first Patch Tuesday update of the year, aimed at fixing certain security vulnerabilities in the Windows system, targeting Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1 systems. From the current situation, the aforementioned issue only affects Windows 7 users.
The description of this security update includes: “This security update addresses vulnerabilities in the Windows system. The most serious issue could allow an attacker to log onto the target system and run specific applications to execute remote code.”
Choosing diagnostic analysis in the system does not help much, and the only way to handle this issue is to hide the update and wait for Microsoft’s subsequent solutions. Considering this is a security update patch, Microsoft is likely to address it soon.
Chromebook laptops run Google’s proprietary Chrome OS, with user data stored on Google’s servers.
Nexedi’s ongoing project is a free software alternative to Chrome OS called NayuOS, improving privacy protection and customizability. NayuOS uses a customized version of Chromium OS, has no proprietary BIOS, uses Guest mode, does not require any Google account, and does not sync with Google services, running only free software.
The developers claim that NayuOS is now sufficient to meet most needs.

Many fans of BlackBerry 10 are eagerly hoping for a better development of this system’s ecosystem, but the official confirmation from BlackBerry has poured cold water on this group. Although this senior BlackBerry executive is not the highest leader of BlackBerry, as the Senior Product Director for the APAC region, Damian Tay has confirmed that BlackBerry is currently shifting to a platform ecosystem, and the platform chosen by BlackBerry is Android.
In fact, even during the BlackBerry 10 era, BlackBerry had one foot in the Android boat. For example, to address the lack of application ecosystem on BB10, the BB10 system began to support Android applications through a compatibility layer.
On the latest BlackBerry PRIV phone, BlackBerry has fully adopted the Android system and has also brought over its signature QWERTY keyboard. The acceptance of this phone has been very high, and some are worried that this is a sign of BlackBerry abandoning BB10, and this concern has again proven to be a reality.
Tay stated that it is unreasonable to adopt two platforms simultaneously in market competition, and the future belongs to Android (the future is really Android). BlackBerry was originally built to provide cross-platform applications and services, so transitioning to Android is a breeze. This decision from BlackBerry is not surprising, as the application ecosystem of Android is much stronger than that of BB10.
However, this transition process will not be quick, as BlackBerry still supports the BlackBerry Passport and Classic, which are still running BB10. Moreover, considering that Android cannot match BB10 in terms of security, BB10 has accumulated a significant base in the enterprise and government markets, so continued support is necessary. Therefore, BlackBerry may still maintain both platforms for some time, but this is only temporary, unless a BlackBerry executive comes out to deny Tay’s statements.
Recently, Ubisoft has launched the beta testing of The Division, which was delayed, allowing Xbox One players to be the first to enjoy it for 24 hours, while PC and PlayStation 4 platforms will soon follow. As shown in the image below, this beta test was originally scheduled to end on January 31. However, according to IGN’s report, Ubisoft has announced that the beta testing period will be extended by one more day.
Ubisoft Community Manager Natchai Stappers stated in the forum:
In the past few days, we have seen incredible enthusiasm from everyone for this game, with many registering on the waiting list for a chance to participate in the beta test. We have been working hard to bring in as many players as possible while ensuring a smooth experience for everyone. We have started to issue invitations based on priority, first come first served.
In addition to fulfilling our promise to players who have already reserved access, we also announced earlier today that we will invite as many players from the waiting list as possible. To ensure everyone can fully enjoy the beta, we are now pleased to announce that the beta testing period will be extended by 24 hours for all players.
After the extension, this round of beta testing will end on February 2, at 12 PM Central European Time (CET), 6 AM Eastern Standard Time (EST), 3 AM Pacific Standard Time (PST), and 10 PM Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).
If all goes well, this game, which has been delayed from E3 2013 to 2016, will officially release on March 8.
