The Two Segments of the Smart Home Market

The smart home market can be divided into two segments: the B-end and the C-end. The B-end is dominated by integrators who handle everything from design and installation to debugging. Its value lies in its complexity and professionalism; the more mysterious it is, the more it can showcase a premium for being ‘knowledgeable.’ A stable and professional wired system is the preferred choice. The C-end, on the other hand, relies entirely on user initiative. Any step that requires ‘learning’ is a sales killer—smart home usage frequency is low, and consumers have to learn anew each time they make a purchase, leading to high memory costs. Therefore, C-end products must be as easy to use as traditional appliances; only when deep integration is needed should ‘one-step’ light learning be allowed. Keep the complexity for algorithms and return simplicity to users; only then will DIY become mainstream. Only the C-end can truly expand the trillion-dollar market. In the future, AI will completely solve this problem. Stable and simple wireless systems will replace wired systems as the mainstream.
