The cost of sending for inspection has been reduced by 30%, and the inspection cycle has been shortened by more than 30%.
The first robot quality inspection center in our province has been established in Tangshan.
Laser trackers dynamically test the motion trajectory of robots, and cold-field emission scanning electron microscopes conduct nano-level inspections of the metallic structural characteristics of robots… On August 15, we entered the Hebei Intelligent Robot Product Quality Inspection Center (hereinafter referred to as the “Robot Quality Inspection Center”) located in the High-tech Zone of Tangshan, where various advanced equipment is diagnosing the quality of robot products.

The Robot Quality Inspection Center was built by the Hebei Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Research Institute and was established on August 6. It is the first intelligent robot product quality inspection center in the province, filling the gap in the field of professional robot testing in Hebei. Liu Jiantao, a staff member at the center, introduced that the center can provide full-chain testing services for robot companies, scientific research institutions, and innovation centers in our province and surrounding areas, supporting the quality improvement and upgrading of the intelligent robot industry in Tangshan and the entire province.
As one of the 107 characteristic industrial clusters in our province, the intelligent special robot industrial cluster in the High-tech Zone of Tangshan has formed a distinctive industrial cluster that integrates research and development, production, and service, led by industrial robots, highlighted by special robots, and characterized by service robots, with advantages such as industrial agglomeration and complete chains. To enhance the resilience and competitiveness of the robot industrial cluster, Tangshan has held multiple enterprise symposiums to understand the pain points faced by robot companies, such as the inability to test, long cycles, long distances, and high costs, making the establishment of the Robot Quality Inspection Center timely.
Precisely addressing the issues, we work together to tackle challenges. The Hebei Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Research Institute, along with the market supervision departments at the municipal and district levels in Tangshan, jointly visited relevant departments, research institutions, and enterprises to systematically collect past inspection reports and summarize over 50 core inspection parameters, ensuring that the resources of the Robot Quality Inspection Center are efficient and practical.
Mechanical performance laboratories, light source darkroom testing laboratories, water pressure laboratories, walk-in thermal radiation laboratories… With the establishment of the Robot Quality Inspection Center, as part of the center, the 32 laboratories of CITIC Heavy Industries Kaicheng Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. in Tangshan High-tech Zone have gained a “new identity” and will serve the development of the industrial cluster through a “shared manufacturing” model.
“Building a provincial-level inspection and testing center faces challenges such as high funding requirements and long construction cycles,” Liu Jiantao said. To accelerate the efficient transformation of technological research results, the Robot Quality Inspection Center utilizes local resources and promotes the comprehensive integration of inspection and testing into the “shared manufacturing” action of the characteristic industrial cluster, building a virtuous industrial ecosystem of co-construction, sharing, and collaborative progress.
“Shared manufacturing” gathers strength, upgrading characteristic industries towards new heights. The completed Robot Quality Inspection Center has established four basic functional laboratories for intelligent robots, including laboratories for testing metals and other raw materials, motion performance testing, electrical (battery) safety, reliability experiments, and reliability technology assessments, equipped with 168 advanced devices (sets) such as laser trackers and electron microscopes. Its testing capabilities cover 107 inspection parameters and 240 inspection methods (standards) in the robot field, providing inspection and testing services for over 200 robot-related enterprises in Tangshan.
“In the past, we had to go to Shanghai or Shenyang for inspection and testing. Now, we can conduct inspections right at our doorstep, significantly shortening the cycle.” A relevant department head from CITIC Heavy Industries Kaicheng Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. explained that compared to previous off-site inspections, the current testing costs have been reduced by 30%, and the inspection cycle has been shortened by more than 30%.
It is reported that the Robot Quality Inspection Center can also provide inspection services for the first (set) product promotion and application of enterprises, helping them to obtain relevant support policies and reduce research and development costs. In the next step, Tangshan will accelerate the construction of an industrial innovation ecosystem of “testing – research and development – transformation – upgrading”, assisting Tangshan in becoming a source of technological standards and innovation in the robot industry.
