Recently, while browsing on a second-hand platform, I stumbled upon the world’s smallest commercial PC, model ThinkCentre M90n-1. With 2TB M.2 solid-state drives now dropping to over 400 yuan, I thought I’d buy it as a download machine. Since this machine didn’t come with a hard drive, I got it for just 800 yuan, and I personally feel like I scored a great deal.
Upon receiving it, I found that this machine is indeed ultra-mini, even smaller than a standard red brick, only slightly larger than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The craftsmanship is exquisite, and it’s convenient to carry. The i5-8265U with 8GB of onboard memory can meet various requirements for daily office work and entertainment, with a low power consumption of 15W and quiet operation. The heat dissipation is also quite good, with large cooling holes on both sides of the back, making it completely qualified as a download machine.
The machine also has an M.2 solid-state interface built-in. Now that the prices of solid-state drives have plummeted, domestic 1TB drives have dropped to as low as 199 yuan, and 2TB drives are just over 400 yuan. If not now, then when to buy? I remember when I bought a 250GB solid-state drive for over 400 yuan, and it hurt a bit.
Don’t be fooled by the small size of this machine; its interfaces are very comprehensive! It has all 3.1 USB + USB-C, and the USB-C on the back supports video output and power input, allowing it to connect to two 4K@60Hz monitors simultaneously, and it can boot up with a keyboard. The machine comes pre-installed with Windows 10, and I plan to upgrade to Windows 11 later; my main PC is still stuck in the Windows 7 era.
