Recently, Qualcomm released the successor to the Snapdragon 855 – the Snapdragon 855 Plus. Although this new SoC can only be considered an overclocked version at best (CPU core frequency increased from 2.84GHz to 2.96GHz,GPU frequency increased from 585MHz to 672MHz), many manufacturers are eager to adopt it. Among them, the Asus ROG Phone 2 was the first to launch, officially released on July 23, and it has now appeared in the GeekBench benchmark database.
The GeekBench benchmark database shows that the Snapdragon 855 Plus (Asus ROG Phone 2) has a single-core score of 3616 and a multi-core score of 11103;

In comparison, the latest version of the GB benchmark database also shows the Snapdragon 855 (Samsung A90) with a single-core score of 3458 and a multi-core score of 10852. It can be seen that the 855 Plus ( 3616/11103 ) has improved scores over the 855 (3458/10852) in both single-core and multi-core tests, but it remains to be seen how much power consumption differs.

At the same time, following the announcement of the Asus ROG Phone 2 featuring the 855 Plus, the Red Magic gaming phone also announced yesterday that the Red Magic 3 will upgrade to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus platform. Additionally, the Black Shark 3, which has already received 3C certification and is expected to be released at the end of this month or early next month, is also likely to feature this chip.

Overall, the overclocked version of the 855
is quite suitable for this type of gaming phone
However, if it is a daily flagship
power consumption will need to be a concern to watch for
