▲ The navigation system integrates imaging for three-dimensional reconstruction
▲ Extracted hematoma of 24ml

Considering this, Director Wang Tao and Director Gao Xisong of neurosurgery communicated thoroughly with the patient’s family and decided to perform a precise puncture and drainage surgery for intracranial hematoma assisted by the micro-robot navigation. After a meticulous surgical assessment and planning, the doctors first aligned the robot’s “eye” (camera) to the patient’s head, then quickly registered the patient’s head position using surface scanning technology. The robot fused the patient’s imaging data and performed three-dimensional reconstruction, clearly displaying the hematoma’s location on the screen through the robot’s scanning outline of the three-dimensional head structure, allowing doctors to intuitively see the relationship between the patient’s brain’s internal structure and external position, avoiding sulci and arteries, and selecting the best puncture path. The robot’s mechanical arm automatically moved to the entry point based on the registered position and calculated the hematoma’s depth. With the cooperation of Directors Wang Tao and Gao Xisong, the drainage tube was quickly and accurately placed into the patient’s hematoma lesion, perfectly avoiding blood vessels, important functional areas, and conduction fiber bundles.
Post-surgery, imaging checks showed that Mr. Gao’s brain hematoma had almost completely disappeared, and limb function significantly improved.

The stereotactic navigation robot’s flexible mechanical arm and clear, intuitive three-dimensional display offer advantages of minimally invasive surgery, high positioning accuracy, and no dead angles for puncture, facilitating doctors in planning the optimal puncture path based on the hematoma’s shape. The mechanical arm can be freely positioned at the surgical target, with precision controlled within 0.5mm. For patients with hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage, especially those with bleeding in critical functional areas such as the thalamus and brainstem, robotic stereotactic hematoma puncture drainage is a minimally invasive, safe, and effective treatment method, which can better improve the patient’s neurological function and long-term quality of life.
Director Wang Tao introduced that the stereotactic treatment for intracerebral hemorrhage is just a small test of neurosurgery robots. The Q300 micro-robot navigation system used in this surgery can also perform the resection and biopsy of small lesions in deep brain tissue. It is not only applicable for the clearance of intracranial hematomas but alsosuitable for biopsies of various intracranial deep lesions, SEEG for epilepsy, DBS for Parkinson’s disease, endoscopic transnasal surgery for pituitary tumors, including various neurosurgical procedures such as trigeminal neuralgia balloon compression surgery.

Wang Tao, Chief Physician of Neurosurgery, Master’s degree, currently a member of the Chinese Medical Association, member of the Chinese Physician Association, Standing Committee of the Xi’an Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, Youth Committee Member of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, and a member of the Neurosurgery Branch of the Shaanxi Medical Association.Specialization: Surgical treatment of Parkinson’s disease and essential tremors, surgical treatment of various intractable pains such as postherpetic neuralgia, cancer pain, and diabetic foot, stereotactic biopsy and clearance surgery for various deep brain lesions.
