MTD6508 Data Sheet – Three-Phase Sensorless BLDC Motor Driver
IntroductionThe MTD6508 device is a three-phase full-wave sensorless driver for Brushless DC (BLDC) motors. It features 180° sinusoidal drive, high torque output, and can achieve silent operation. With its adaptive characteristics, parameters, and wide supply voltage range (2V to 5.5V), the MTD6508 is suitable for various motor characteristic applications, requiring very few external components. Speed control can be achieved through Power Supply Modulation (PSM) or Pulse Width Modulation (PWM).The compact package and minimal components make the MTD6508 device very cost-effective in fan applications. For example, the CPU cooling fan in laptops requires a low-noise, low mechanical vibration, and efficient design. The Frequency Generator (FG) output allows for precise speed control in closed-loop applications. The MTD6508 device includes a self-locking protection mode that cuts off output current when the motor is locked, and it also has an automatic recovery function to restart the fan after unlocking. The device also includes motor overcurrent limit and thermal shutdown protection functions to enhance operational safety. The MTD6508 is available in a compact enhanced thermal dissipation 3 mm x 3 mm x 0.5 mm 10-pin UDFN package and a 4 mm x 4 mm x 0.5 mm 16-pin UQFN package.Features
