Media Reports: MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Outperforms Apple’s A16

Today, a digital blogger on Weibo revealed that the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 processor achieved a frame rate of 90fps in the GFXBench Aztec 1440P test scenario, significantly surpassing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor at 68fps and Apple’s A16 processor at 53fps.

Arm announced new Cortex-X4, Cortex-A720, and Cortex-A520 CPU cores at the end of May. According to Arm, the new core designs offer significant improvements in energy efficiency while also enhancing security and scalability.

The Cortex-X4, as the flagship product, boasts an average performance increase of 15% compared to last year’s Cortex-X3 core, while reducing power consumption by 40% at the same frequency, with only a 10% increase in core area.

The A720, designed to balance performance and power consumption, achieves a 20% improvement in energy efficiency compared to the previous generation, with lower cache data latency.

The A520, as a low-power core, sees a 22% improvement in energy efficiency over the previous generation.

Subsequently, MediaTek officially confirmed that the Dimensity 9300 platform will adopt Arm’s new mobile processor core IP, including the new Cortex-X4 super core and Cortex-A720 performance core, resulting in a significant overall performance boost.

In terms of GPU, the Dimensity 9300 will integrate Arm’s latest Immortalis G720 GPU. According to official data, the Immortalis G720 introduces Delay Vertex Shading (DVS) technology, resulting in a 15% increase in performance per watt, a 15% peak performance increase, and an average frame rate increase of 15%, with overall performance improved by 20% compared to the Immortalis G715.

In addition to DVS, the Immortalis G720 also supports hardware-level ray tracing, variable rate shading, and 2x MSAA modules, which allow the GPU to better adapt to different gaming scenarios and requirements, providing a more realistic, smoother, and longer-lasting gaming experience.

According to previous leaks, the Dimensity 9300 is set to challenge Apple’s A17 processor, with power consumption expected to be reduced by over 50% compared to the Dimensity 9200. Additionally, the Dimensity 9300 chip is expected to be released before the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, with the vivo X100 series smartphones being the first to feature it.

Apple’s WWDC23 will be held on June 6 (tomorrow) at 1:00 AM, and IT Home’s website & App will provide live coverage, welcome to watch!
