Recently, our province has initiated a national pilot program for the management of new pollutants and comprehensive environmental risk control in the PCB industry, which is a characteristic and advantageous industry under the “1269” action plan. The pilot program has selected 8 representative PCB enterprises in Ji’an and Ganzhou to carry out monitoring work, while simultaneously implementing upstream and downstream monitoring at the sewage treatment plants in related industrial parks. So far, over 100 environmental samples, including water, sediment, and solid waste, have been collected, providing a solid data foundation for the regulation and management of new pollutants in the industry.
It is understood that PCB circuit boards involve various toxic and harmful chemicals during production, processing, use, and discharge. If discharged without effective treatment, they can not only pollute the environment but also have long-term effects on human health through the food chain accumulation effect. By conducting pilot programs for the management of new pollutants, it will help clarify the chemical substances involved in the PCB industry, explore a comprehensive lifecycle prevention and control system for new pollutants, and form replicable and promotable experiences in Jiangxi.
