Is the Circuit Board Qualified?

Question: Hello, I have a question for you, Zhu. The 5V voltage regulator board has issues, and I don’t want to use it. I made one myself, but there is no information on this board. The image is below; is it acceptable? I would like to ask you about it.

Is the Circuit Board Qualified?

Reply: It is acceptable to use a self-etched circuit board without adding copper layers for information such as school, team, date, etc.

Question: Zhu, our newly made main control board, the K60 is particularly hot; what could be the reason? It gets so hot that I am afraid to touch it. Will high temperatures affect the calculations and peripheral performance?

Is the Circuit Board Qualified?

Reply: If it is particularly hot, I recommend checking related issues, including power supply, whether there is a short circuit, working frequency, etc., to reduce the static power consumption of the circuit to a reasonable value; otherwise, this operation is too unreliable. As for the cause, you will only know after you check it yourself.

Question: Hello, Teacher Zhu, in your post today, you mentioned that all participating teams must install a timing system trigger magnet on the model car before the competition. Can the permanent magnet inside the motor of car B be used as a timing system trigger magnet? If I add another magnet (placed at the front of the car), will it interfere with the motor’s magnet and cause the timer to malfunction? (The timer is triggered by the front magnet and then immediately stopped by the motor’s magnet). I wonder if the timing system has any protection against this?

Is the Circuit Board Qualified?

Reply: The competition system has a “dead time” parameter, which means that after being triggered for the first time, it will only accept a second trigger after 3-5 seconds. Therefore, it will not malfunction due to various magnets on the model car or induced pulses generated by the motor.
