Basic digital compilation, also known as basic digital aggregation, is a reference material that reflects the basic situation of a region, unit, or specific aspect through numerical data. It is compiled based on actual work needs, selecting relevant statistical numbers from archival materials.
Basic digital compilation features concentrated content, precise numbers, concise presentation, ease of use, and strong persuasiveness. Its role is to provide materials for users to understand situations, study issues, formulate plans, and summarize experiences, as well as to provide basis and reference for publicity and education.

Overall Structure
1. An independent book of basic digital aggregation generally consists of a main title (book title), preface and legend, main text, annotations, and appendices.
2. As part of other works or appendices, the structure of basic digital aggregation is simpler, usually containing only a main title, compilation instructions, and the main text.
2
Main Text Elements and Formation
The main content described and reflected in the basic digital compilation’s main text primarily consists of various quantitative concepts and relationships, commonly referred to as sequences. A sequence is the basic element that constitutes the main text of a basic digital compilation, and it generally includes four specific aspects: statistical objects, time range or spatial range, statistical indicators, statistical values.
The main text of the basic digital compilation can be written in three forms:
1. Narrative form
2. Tabular form
3. A combination of narrative and tabular forms.
3
Table Production
Basic digital tables, aside from the main title, typically consist of three parts:
1. Horizontal title, listed on the left side of the table;
2. Vertical title, listed at the top of the table;
3. Basic values, filled in at the intersection of horizontal rows and vertical columns, where each basic value is defined by the horizontal and vertical titles.
Some tables may also include notes, table-making units, table-making dates, etc. The horizontal and vertical titles indicate the basic objects, time range or spatial range, and basic indicators. Both horizontal and vertical titles can have one or more levels of sub-titles beneath them.
4
Types of Basic Digital Compilation
1. By nature: statistical compilations from government agencies, enterprises, institutions, regions, and professional systems;
2. By time: annual and multi-year statistical compilations;
3. By content: comprehensive and specialized statistical compilations.
For example, a comprehensive digital compilation titled “Basic Digital Aggregation of XX Town” includes numerical data on land area, resource distribution, population, industrial and agricultural output, value, profit, and cultural education facilities. A specialized statistical digital compilation titled “Basic Digital Compilation of XX Bureau Archive Room” includes data on personnel structure, archive space, types of archives, quantity, electronic entry items, retrieval tools, research materials, and equipment configuration.
5
Compilation Requirements
1. Utilize original statistical reports and existing statistical materials from archives as much as possible.
2. The selected topics should be typical, with representative years and data systems.
3. Data must be accurate and authoritative, with unified standards and measurement units that comply with national standards.
