Many readers may have encountered a situation where they initially purchased a smaller capacity microSD card for their NS, thinking they wouldn’t use up all that space.
However, over time, they realized they underestimated their purchasing ability, leading them to buy a larger capacity microSD card. This raises the question of how to transfer the data from the old microSD card to the new one.
This week, we will introduce the method for transferring NS games between two microSD cards. If you find this tutorial useful, feel free to click “Save” for future reference.
Detailed Steps:
1. Turn off the NS and remove the old microSD card.
2. Turn on the NS and insert the new microSD card; it will prompt you to restart and format.
3. Turn off the NS and remove the new microSD card.
4. Use a card reader to transfer the data from the old microSD card to the computer.
5. Use a card reader to transfer the data from the computer to the new microSD card.
Below are the specific steps for steps 4 and 5:
【You will need a microSD card reader to transfer data to the computer】
(1) Connect the microSD card that needs data transfer to the computer via the card reader, and copy the entire 【Nintendo】 folder from the root directory of the storage card to the computer. Once copied, eject the card.
(2) Connect the new larger capacity microSD card to the computer via the card reader, ensuring that the storage card is empty. If it is not empty, please back up the data on the card and format it.
(3) Copy the entire 【Nintendo】 folder to the root directory of the new card.
The data transfer between the two microSD cards is now complete.
Notes:
The above operations need to be performed on a Windows system; using a Mac or other systems may result in errors or other issues.
It is not possible to consolidate the contents of multiple microSD cards into one card.
Once the new microSD card is used, data cannot be copied (consolidated) from the previously used old microSD card.
Games or software cannot be used on multiple consoles by simply copying. After copying the data, do not use the data from before the copy; use the microSD card that has the copied data.
It is not possible to copy software and data saved on the microSD card separately to a computer or other microSD cards.
6. Turn on the NS console, and all games will show a cloud download prompt. Insert the new microSD card, and it will prompt for a restart; click OK to proceed.
