Session 5 Lecture Overview
In the field of large-sized displays, TFT-LCD still dominates the market, widely used in household TVs, educational machines, conference displays, and public displays. With the advancement of technology and improvements in living standards, higher demands for display quality have been raised to achieve a clearer and smoother viewing experience. This lecture will introduce the technologies for enhancing the picture quality of LCD displays from the perspectives of display panels, drivers, and backlight design.

About the Display Technology Lecture Series
Over the past few decades, display technology has undergone dramatic changes, from the initial CRT displays to LCD displays and now to OLED, QLED, and Micro-LED. Each technological innovation has brought clearer, more vibrant colors, and faster response times. As the demand for high resolution, high contrast, and high refresh rates continues to rise, innovations in display technology are continually driving social progress.
The Peking University Display Technology Lecture Series is jointly organized by the School of Information Science and Technology, the School of Electronics, and the Carbon-Based Electronics Research Center at Peking University, held twice each semester. This lecture series is also a practical component of the undergraduate course “Introduction to Display Technology” and the graduate course “Frontiers in Display Technology”, supported by the school’s teaching reform project.
By inviting industry experts to campus, we hope to provide students with a richer academic experience, allowing them to understand the latest technological trends, industry development directions, and future prospects, while also exposing them to more employment opportunities. Regardless of your level of understanding of display technology, as long as you are interested in displays, we welcome you to participate in this lecture series and explore more possibilities in this rapidly developing field.
